...im being brave here

alright...im not one to usually be open about my political views but, seeing that there is a new movie from hollywood out ABOUT 9/11, i think ill stop being quiet, for now...

comming out sometime in august i beleive, there is a movie called 'world trade center.' i think its just a little too soon for us to start this. weve already made a movie about one of the planes from the 9/11 tradegy. and theyre coming out with ANOTHER ONE?! please, save it for much later people and stop trying to unconciously bank money off of the losses of our country.

i will admit that 9/11 was very sad and tragic. it will forever change the way some of us americans live our lives and view things. we mourned for the loss of all those that died in the event and will never forget it. BUT...doesnt mean that we have to make a movie off of it. yes they made a movie about pearl harbor, titanic, saving private ryan, ect. but those were many many years after they happened.

i just wanna know what kind of a message were sending to other people when they see that weve made a movie about something that we grieved over so much. counting, its been 5 years since 9/11, yes that seems like a fair amount of time. but since theres still crisis's going on and a war, i dont think that its fair to those who did lose someone in 9/11 to see that theres a movie comming out. i personally wouldnt be happy about it. i would look at it as exploitation. yes documentaries are nice and great for future reference in a history class. but its just an offense to make a movie about 9/11, right now.

i probably dont have enough of a soap box to stand on and preach becuase i dont watch the news weekly. i just hear it when i walk by the tv or glance at a paper. but ive glanced and heared enough to know that ITS NOT OVER. making a movie about it will just depress the people that did lose relatives or are still losing realatives in the war right now. seeing and hearing about all the deaths daily is just bad enough. i think its horrible that the only headline news stories are about people dying. then again, what else sells stories besides sex, violence, and opposing political views. i havent lived since the world began but i think that the world (if you choose to constantly look at it this way) has become sick and infected with negativity. all these drugs, weight loss obsessions, money sucking/desiring dreams....just this constant PERFECTION desire that is floating around us. america, the land of opportunity. heh.

im sure that the staff working on the movie were all respectful to what they were dealing with, but is this honestly the new method of coping that weve come to? lets make a movie about this..and then well feel superiour and accomplished. without any experience in the thick of the action of 9/11 (beside standing in my cafeteria in high school, watching the tv as the towers burned) i do know that there is no way they can capture the true emotions and experiences that those who did live through the inccident first hand experienced. i heard that many veterans who saw 'saving private ryan' did leave the theatere during the movie because it was made that well. why cant we just heal and move on. THEN 10 or 20+ years later make a movie about it.

despite the fact that i have not seen the movie, i think that it looks cheesy and poorly done. they will not be getting my money for a ticket in return to view that piece of work. i am ashamed and slightly embarassed that we have sunk this low. its bad enough that were telling our daughters to sicken themselves skinny and dress like trash and that the only way to impress a person is thro sexual actions. can we NOT continue to sink lower than this? i pray that the day my children are born, that things arent this FUCKED UP. because i refuse to buy my daughter a barbie doll...
