Going Coastal

Apr 29, 2007 14:22

Three of us kicked off the '07 hiking season yesterday with a trip to Mt. Tamalpais.  I picked the Coastal, Cataract, and Old Mine Loop trail (6.8 miles with an elevation change of 700 feet) from my Bay Area hiking guide because it offered a little bit of everything: secluded forest groves, wide grasslands, and sweeping urban and ocean vistas.  Great day, too: sunny and mid-70s.

Reptiles are cool.  This little guy let me get my camera really close.  We saw a bunch of these throughout the hike.

OH, OOPSIE!  DID SOMEBODY HAVE A LIL' ACCIDENT?

The rotted, derelict frame of a car that lost control and rolled down a hill makes any trail about a million times more awesome.  We all had to pose for pictures, of course.

Mine is very tasteful.  I'm, like, an insurance claims inspector?

xllostdoglx was cool in his shot...

... but then he gave Michael a little Help from BehindTM.  (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

After the hike we drove into Tiburon and had margaritas and chicken flautas at Guaymas.
