on-line dating

So, further to the earlier post re: on-line dating - who has tried it? any recommendations for sites (I am in the UK)? is it ever possible to meet friends rather than/as well as potential dates this way, or does any declaration of being interested in being friends automatically translate to either a) I am not actually interested in you b) I am ( Read more... )

Thanks for this. To be honest I am still quite a way off actually trying it, because mostly I like being broadly single, and I've been single for so long anyway that I find it quite hard to imagine not being. But friends would be good, and I enjoy dating, so I might try the OKCupid thing.

Oh, and I'm shortly going to be telling someone I'm interested only in being friends, because I'm otherwise occupied (and she smokes too, bleurgh!). I'll try to remember to post about what comes of it here.

Just a brief update -- I told this particular girl that I'm seeing someone but interested in meeting for coffee as friends, and she's seemed perfectly fine with that, and we're still corresponding.
