Ok so here’s another update….
The first weekend of February we all went to Mision Concá and Tequisquiapan, as well as Xilitla. We saw this castle-type thing that Sir Edward James constructed in his FREE TIME. The pics are on my facebook. It was SO RAINY all weekend, though. Very unusual for the season here, but hey….it was just like being back in Carlisle. Then this weekend, Shana, Chris, Spencer, and I are going to Puerto Vallarta for a little bit of beachiness. I’ll post pictures of that too!
My family and I are getting along very well. Today is the first day of Lent, so I went to a church to get ashes on my forehead. Turns out that here, they put them on your hair, so I was slightly confused but that’s okay. I wonder why they do that this way here. It’s easy for me that my family, and the rest of Mexico, is so Catholic…I know a lot of the culture and beliefs that way, and I won’t be too upset about not eating meat on Fridays for a month.
We have our first exam here tomorrow! It’s in translation….I really love the class. I feel like I could pursue this as a career if I get good enough. We’ll see. At this point, everything feels so different, my options feel so open. Abroad makes you feel like you can do anything.
My family is coming to visit the second weekend in March for the week. I’m actually pretty excited to show them around. And I hope my Spanish has improved since last I saw them! But sometimes it’s weird….like I’ll have a day when I feel fluent, then other days when I feel like I don’t make any sense. I guess I just have to keep plugging along.
I miss my music! I miss singing all the time, I miss the Syrens, I miss all of you! But I hope that all of you are having a wonderful semester, and I look forward to catching up with all of you. Updates are always appreciated!
More later,
Er
