I have a LOT to do today. But I wanted to take this moment to say that I had a marvelous, marvelous evening and night yesterday so thank you all for being so fun. :)
Weifei and I first volunteered at the Japanese Festival, where we helped people dress up in kimonos and took pictures of them. Tying a kimono is much harder than it sounds -- Weifei and I were alarmed! -- but by the end of the night we were freakin' pros at dressing people up. A number of people asked if I grew up doing it or something cool like that. :)
It was especially entertaining to dress the males up in the masculine yukatas, as everyone felt the need to pretend to be girly or otherwise strike ridiculous poses. Our booth was also right next door to the performance room, which meant that when things got slow we got to peak around the door and watch amusing events. We almost got roped into the fashion show when dressed up in our kimonos, but we managed to duck out of it. That would have been a Situation.
Other good things that happened include the DELICIOUS free yakusoba we got, the green tea and wafers Weifei schmoozed free from a vendor, and the amusing last-pitch scramble we made to buy the last two Ramunes. And let's not forget MALIK AND KAREN -- two people I have been wanting to see for ages! They looked great in kimonos. :) And Malik stole Weifei and I some flowers. :)
I also got a ridiculously big flower arrangement for free from the ikebana booth at the end, which was awesome. It's literally three feet tall and it has sticks and funky flowers in it.

After the festival and the pleasant walk home, I then went out to Kohl's with Weifei on a spontaneous shirt run. We had good times and returned just in time for our house party.
Hina's brother Faisal, her and Barwick's friend Caspar (the Asian one who saved us after the car-wreck), and Faisal's friend Gufran came up to stay the night and party with us. From there it turned into a Sycamore reunion, with people like Rena, Janice, Shekar, Amritpal, and others showing up. Chris produced more liquor than should ever exist in one place and Barwick got obliterated almost immediately. It was a very good night.
I invented a tasty drink, somehow managed not to get remotely drunk despite multiple shots of whiskey and tequila, enjoyed the company of the brown boys who came over, and bonded a lot with Rena.
Now I am bustling around cleaning in preparation for a full day of homework and errands. I'm ridiculously starving today no matter how much I eat but otherwise in high spirits, as I've had a lot of fun this weekend. I have some cool friends.
