oh, the things we learn

These last few days have been really pleasant. Exam cramming is never fun, but this time a lot of things have been different. I will write about them later.

Last night Weifei, Ashley and I celebrated Life in General with home-made cookies and Mike's Hard Limade. We danced around to some country and other stuff (I'm addicted to the song "Honky Tonk U"!) and then settled down in my room with our computers and homework to get stuff done. "Getting stuff done," naturally, entailed me exam-cramming, Weifei writing a Japanese LJ, and Ashley running online quizzes, many of which were actually entertaining and yielded some amusing results. Oh man, I love open-ended quizzes! You can learn a lot of bullshit about yourselves. ;)

A few memorable moments:

ASHLEY: The way you described the ocean describes how you are in love-making.
ME: Salty, volatile, and inviting...?
WEIFEI: Full of shipwrecks?!

--

ASHLEY: Around the waterfall, you see swans. How many are there?
ME: None! Swans don't hang out around waterfalls -- that's ridiculous! They'd get pummelled!
WEIFEI: Yeah! I see one, but it's DEAD.
[Later]
ASHLEY: Oh man, guys. How many swans we see is how many true friends we have. Anna and I got NONE... and Weifei... Weifei, yours is DEAD!
ANNA: Get out of my room, Weifei!

--

ASHLEY: What do you say upon getting out of the river?
WEIFEI: Yay!
ANNA: Whooh damn, that was cold!
[Later]
ASHLEY: What you say after getting out of the river is what you will say on your wedding night.
ANNA: ...

--

ASHLEY: You are in the desert. You have with you a monkey, a sheep, a lion, a cow, and a horse. You have to leave one of them behind you because you are starving and exhausted... which do you abandon first?
ME: The monkey, duh. What the hell use is a monkey? You can eat the sheep or cow, the cow also gievs milk, you can ride the horse, the lion protects you... the monkey is just annoying!
ASHLEY: Yeah! Damn monkey, it's the first to go.
[Later]
ASHLEY: According to this Japanese archetype test, the animals you sacrifice represent various facets in your life. The first one you sacrifice represents the first thing you would get rid of when times got tough.
The monkey represents... your children.
[horrified silence]

Haha, good times.
Another thing that made me happy was that for the first time in freaking AGES there was a colour quiz that actually included orange; it has been an ongoing amused complaint of mine that online quizzes almost never offer orange as a favourite colour, even when they include hues and shades like grey, pink, or rainbow. This one not only had orange, but it was frighteningly accurate:

"Orange:

Orange people are nature lovers. Being sports minded, they love to do anything having to do with the outdoors. Taking long walks in the woods revives them. When forced to stay indoors for long periods of time, they may become ill. Trees and animals mean a lot to them and they want to be a part of nature.

People always say good things about these down to earth people. Although they may sometimes invoke anger from others, it usually doesn't last very long. Who can remain mad at someone so helpful?

They are good lovers and can be kinky where sex is concerned. Orange personalities do not consider themselves kinky, just willing to try what their partner may like.

Tending to take up for the underdog, they will put themselves out to help someone who they feel needs assistance.
Always aware of their surrounding, they tend to be more adventurous than most. Even though they are impulsive and thoughtful, they generally are very much aware of what they are doing.

Learning and remembering through experience is a strong suit of theirs. Orange personalities believe God meant for them to have any good thing in life they want. As luck has it, they get it."
