So. I'm not much into the holiday spirit and all this year (I thought I'd cry this morning) but, working in retail, I hear a good amount of holiday music. I've been thinking about my top ten Christmas songs...they go a little something like this:

* The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On an Open Fire)
*Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
*Carrol Of The Bells
*Silent Night
*O, Come O, Come Emanuel
* Baby It's Cold Outside
*Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
* It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas
* O Holy Night
*Good King Wencelas
*Baby Lying In A Manger

Honorable mention goes to: White Christmas and Chocolate In My Stocking

Along with that list I'm starting to construct a list of holiday songs I loath. Among that list you'll find that one song that's rather Caribbean sounding and talks about Jesus being born on Christmas day (ya. Not a fan of the steal drums when it comes to the holidays) , Little Saint Nick (read: disdain for The Beach Boys), and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (hard childhood memory).Though Jack Johnson does have a tolerable version of that last one. And you would think I would know all the lyrics to my favorite songs, but the truth of the matter is, I don't.

For Christmas I've received the following: a whole lot of love, money from Grandma, a 'Velvet' origami wrap from Stacy, a goodie bag from my boss complete with Beaches dvd and $50 gift card to Koles,  Super Scrabble and a Huffelpuff scarf from Sam/Lauren, the last of the Post Secrets books (complete with a strangers secret tucked inside), a book on retouching, a cube of table questions, a transmitter and receiver for my cameras/lights, Across the Universe dvd, and various stocking stuffers. Also, the mother truckers at Citi Bank decided today was a good day to smack me with my monthly 'you owe us $250 on the 15th of next month' notice. Despite that last bit, it's been a very wonderful Christmas.

So yes indeed, Happy Birthday Jesus.
