Happy (Belated) Birthday GUMI!
Yesterday on June 26 was the first anniversary of the release of Megpoid aka Gumi. A number of producers have created songs specially to celebrate this occasion. Here's some of them (excuse my sucky commentaries):
【GUMI】 Dearest (yks remix) 【ぼかんないんです><】A Dearest cover using Gumi. As expected from Yuukiss, Gumi is tuned wonderfully to sound very realistic, if a little different from usual, not that it's a bad thing in this case. It's a tad bit too breathy to my liking, but it's still okay and I like this one better than the Meiko and Miku versions.
【GUMI】 泣き虫アンサンブル 【オリジナル曲PV】Hands up everyone who thinks the title reminds them of Yowamushi Montblanc, most of the viewers over at Nico Nico Douga thinks so (even though this one's made by TOKOTOKO instead of DECO). Anyway, regardless of whether the two are connected or not, this one's still an enjoyable track featuring a rather deep-sounding Gumi backed with some great guitars and a pretty cute PV to boot.
【GUMI】さよならポラリス【オリジナル曲やで】This one's a more upbeat track courtesy of Nem. While I can't say that Gumi sounds out of the ordinary in this one (not that she sounds bad here, mind you), the melody is really pretty, what with the violin and piano and all.
【GUMI】アマヤドリ【PV付オリジナル曲】修正版And now let's have something angst-y for a change. A slower track with beautiful music, Gumi sounds a bit distorted and choppy in some parts, although that just serves to underline the mood of the song even more.
【GUMI】銀聖のアルテミス【オリジナルPV】Or how about some Vocarock instead? A rocking Gumi track with a chorus of other female Vocaloids and a PV featuring them in fantasy-ish gear. And they've got the guitarist from Demetori to play in this, so of course it's gonna be awesome. Just listen to the guitar riffs.
【GUMI×Big-AL】ゴローンゴローン~フンコロガシ~【オリジナル曲やで】i herd u liek Big Al Yet another track from Nem, this time it's a collaboration with OtonagaiP. This duet between Gumi and Big Al is very reminiscent of Sonika and Gumi's Green Green. Gumi and Big Al sounds really nice together, and Big Al's Japanese is actually pretty good.
That's just some of them, if you're interested, there's more on the
Gumi's birthday celebration tag on NND.
