ZUTTO TETO NO TURN

A NEW CHALLENGER APPEARS

Singing robots is a sprawling fandom, and I am still a little lost in it. I have been quite content to let everyone else on this community do all the work of collecting links for me! But it seems like I am the only one in the IRC chan, at least, who has been digging through the UTAU tags instead, and so I guess it's time to stop being a lazy bum and contribute. Kyaaaaa, first post, kyaaaaa! Be gentle!

I'm not an expert on UTAU, and frankly I'm a little intimidated by anyone who is, seeing as there are way too many of them. This post is just a collection of my poking around with the few characters I've explored thus far. If anyone else in this community wants to share some UTAU, please make a post too! I will maybe make more posts after poking around more! WE SHALL BE HEARD--! PS: am adding UTAU tags. this may be a mistake. possibly too many UTAUs to fit in tags. leave this to the discretion of our moderators to sort out.

I may as well put this obligatory video here first and get it out of the way. You can come back to the rest of this post once you get it out of your head.

LIKE THE ABOVE VIDEO, this is the PV version because I like the PV. "The Song of the Eared Robot" is one of Kasane Teto's most popular songs. It takes advantage of Teto's robotic voice and jumpy singing to build the atmosphere rather than trying to force her to sing in a human way, which ruins a lot of UTAU songs imo. Anyway! I like it a lot. Tell me you don't feel even a little bit moved after making it to the end of the song. :(

IT'S A TRAP. Namine Ritsu is a crossdresser. But he still has a very pretty and feminine voice. "Secret Legend" is short, but well-done. It's airy and anime-esque! I suddenly realize I don't know anything about music so it is hard for me to comment on songs. YOU CAN JUST CLICK ON THE LINKS WITHOUT READING ANYTHING I SAY, YOU KNOW.

TIME FOR EXTREME BIAS: Sekka Yufu is one of my ~favorites~ because of her soft whispery voice. It limits her use a little, but SHE IS GOOD AT WHAT SHE DOES! "I Wish It Were Always Winter" is very popular by UTAU standards, and for good reason! A very slow and soft wintery song. Winter is what Yufu does best!

I promise I will only post like. Three Yufu songs. Well, this also seems to have a male version of Yufu, otherwise I don't know who that male voice is. "Rainy rainy" feels less like just rain, and more like you're underwater, floating back and forth on the waves. That's the best way to describe it. ATMOSPHERIC.

THIS IS THE SONG I LINKED ORIGINALLY, which has been stuck in my head for the past few days. :( "Last Road" starts off dubiously, but it all gradually comes together into a cute and upbeat song that still manages to have the wintery air Yufu is known for.

By the same person who did "Rainy rainy" above, "Saucy Girl" is AN INFECTIOUS TETO EARWORM. There's also a PV version which is worth watching just for the dancing :3-faced Tetos and drillhair rockets.

Teto rock song. Also a very popular song. Seeing as it's called "End of the World", it does have a post-apocalyptic sense to it, and it has a nice background chorus. Mostly here to prove Teto can do songs that are not HAPPY HYPER TETOTETOTETOTETOTETOTETOTETO, too! (well, besides song of the eared robot.)

Unlike the other UTAUloids, Utane Uta, more commonly known as Defoko, is completely robotic and doesn't have a human voicebank. So if you're looking for something simulating human singing, LOOK AWAY. Defoko is hard to make good songs with, even more than all the other UTAU, but "Monument" (?) manages to work her to her full potential in a pretty powerful song. \o/

FINALLY, this is the song that made me interested in UTAU and singing robots in general in the first place. Soune Taya is supposedly a male UTAUloid (although he also has a female voice and is thus considered a hermaphrodite by some). "Gekijou" (or "violent emotion") is a suitably chaotic song, and with the way it's all arranged it's hard to understand what's being sung at all. When you do get a grasp of the lyrics, though, it's an obsessive jealous stalker deal. :'D It's probably not for everyone, but hey, it got me into UTAU, so maybe it will work on someone else, too.

ALL THOSE LINKS, AND THIS IS STILL JUST A TINY FRACTION OF WHAT IS OUT THERE!! Perhaps I shall return one day, to continue the UTAU conquest! UNTIL THAT DAY! FAREWELL!!

utau: defoko, utau: kasane teto, utau: namine ritsu, utau: sekka yufu, utau: soune taya, linkdump
