well, in general, I'd say, that unless birds cause a problem with other ecosystems, let em fly.  there are two major exceptions to my mind, however.

1) Chickens.  These are nasty, pecking little bitches of birds.  i'm TOTALLY glad they become Colonel Sanders meat.  better in a bucket than scurrying on the ground causing havoc.

Don't forget Keas, those parrots kill a whole sheep just for a couple of nuggets of grease.

haven't met em, but I'm all for lowering the population of malicious birds. not eliminating them, mind you, but keeping populations in control. hence the air rats...
