Of these particular examples, I'm totally loving #01 & #04.
I do feel that your icons as a whole have a lovely clarity to them.
I would advise you to particularly with the brushy fonts like the one in the first icon, to make it kinda blurry. Just because it adds to the brush feel to the icon.

I think you're a creative icon maker, but sometimes you go a bit overboard. You generally have a really fun usage of color, but once in a while an icon seems so out of place. The last one in this batch is that out of place one. I usually try to get into an icon maker's mind and figure out what their vision was, but I can't for that icon.

You had a beautiful Firefly batch of icons a long time ago. I'd love to see you go back to lots of colors and lighting, because I think that's a forte of yours.

I realised that I don't make very many light icons, I tend to go for the dark and moody so I wanted to counteract that and just do something that was just very light and clean and pure and fresh. :P

hm, I thought I was (e.g. the whole top row)

You do such wonderful things with reds/yellows/blues. I definitely think you're better at the brighter, outlandish colorings than the softer ones, because in the second row the only one with any depth to it is the first, which is also the brightest. The seventh and last ones, in particular, look like they were made by someone not-you, and they both also look to me like they may have image quality problems. Overall though I'm usually quite impressed by your icons.

I didn't know you made icons! I love them... especially the third and fourth icons here. And your coloring on the first one is amazing!

The crops on the first, third, and fourth are good, but the other two are kind of awkward. It would also be nice in some like the second, third, and last, if you could do something to make the backgrounds less distracting so the subject stands out more. That would just really make the icons pop.

I like the coloring on your first one though it would be a good idea to use more textures lije you did in the 4th icon.

my favorite is the fourth and eighth
i personallyl ove the colouring and i'm more a fan of not being able to see full faces/straight on face cropping, so that's probably why i prefer those :]

thanks!
yes me too, I do try and keep interesting crops but sometimes I tend to get lazy or the image is really boring and so I go for the center crop (ie. 5) but thanks so much for your input :)

You have fantastic crops, but all your colors are the trendy, washed-out pink, which makes your icons look exactly like those of thirty bazillion other iconmakers. It works on some images, but if I were you, I'd try to branch out a bit more.
