This morning I read the news headline MIT claims to have found a "language universal" that ties all languages together; the actual paper is "Large-scale evidence of dependency length minimization in 37 languages" by Futrell et al in PNAS, and you can read it here. I may have mentioned that I finished reading the Aeneid (well, the AP selections and the Nisus/Euryalus). I have now moved onto Cicero, because it is a disgrace that I have not read any. Not that I'm taking the AP exam, but man, this book glosses every. single. word.
