One '70s buddy-cop show is much like another, right?

So lysimache has been on a Professionals kick, and she's got me going on it too. It doesn't hurt that Harlequin Airs is one of the best stories I've read in a long time. Plus, it's an AU, so it's not like you need to know the fandom well. Doyle's part of CI5 in this one, and he has to go undercover at a circus as a trapeze artist, a flyer. Naturally, Bodie ( Read more... )

I miss reading on the fandom. I wish I'd been smarter and looked for pros fans on LJ. I never made the effort and I kind of dropped the fandom as a result. Most importantly, I really need to hook up my VCR and go on a Pros marathon if my VCR hasn't died on me yet.

I remember reading a 2.something MB Pros fic. Doyle never joined CI5 and stayed in the police, but Bodie was in CI5, but it was more sinister than in the show.

I'm so sorry I ranted like this on your lj, but Professionals! Thank you for reminding me how much fun the show and the fic are.

The fandom on LJ is surprisingly active, actually. It seems to be full of people who got into it when it first aired and have never ever ever left. The biggest community is the_safehouse, and it seems to attract a large amount of discussion. ci5hq is a little less active. And there's even a pros_newsletter. It seems like a really friendly fandom, and it's nice how it's so centralized -- everything, even vids, pretty much ends up on the archive.

Do you mean Waiting to Fall? I haven't read it yet, but it's the only 2 MB story on the Circuit Archive.

You're welcome. Hopefully I'll, uh, be able to enjoy the show sometime myself. I've never really gotten into the fandom before because I never thought I'd get to see the show. But now I might.
