Whee, another trip.

That was fun. lysimache, who is, by the way, the bestest girlfriend ever, got us tickets to take a bus to New York to see a show today. And it was fun.

We got there early enough to have a couple hours to hang out at the Met, and we saw the new Greek and Roman galleries, which were very impressive. There's a chariot. Whoa. Also we ran through the special exhibits, which were about Catalonian artists who build cool furniture, some fashion guy named Poiret who I'm supposed to have heard of, and all of the bizarre things that Louis Comfort Tiffany kept in his house. It was cool.

The taxi ride to the theater unfortunately took 45 minutes, so we got seated just as the show was starting. We saw The Pirate Queen, the musical about Grace O'Malley, and did I mention that we had the best seats ever? Orchestra, center, 8th row. I could see everyone's faces.

The actual show was pretty awesome. The costumes were beautiful, the sets were beautiful, the Irish dancing was awesome, and there were kickass pirates! And Queen Elizabeth, whose costumes got more elaborate every time she showed up. There was also this awesome fire effect where they put red lights on some fog so it looked like they were dancing in fire; it was really neat. The downsides, such as they were, were that none of the songs were particularly memorable, and the guy playing the love interest sucked -- he was the understudy. Also there could totally have been more pirating and dancing, and less romance, and the finale could have been more impressive. But, still, pirates! Arrr! Dancing singing pirates!

And now I will go call my family, because it's my dad's birthday.
