Happy New Year and happy Yuletide reveal!
We spent two hours at the vet this afternoon (the dog turned out to have a burr in her paw), and when I was checking my journal to see how I'd posted about Yuletide last year it turns out we spent LAST New Year's Eve at the vet too. I guess at least she's consistent?
Anyway, for Yuletide I wrote... Marvel Comics. Surprise! But, hey, it's Carol/Jess:

Summary: When Carol first lost her memories, to Rogue, Professor Xavier healed her and let Jess experience all of Carol's missing memories. When Carol loses all her memories -- again -- it's up to Jess to give them back to her, in exactly the same way: Jess has to link with Carol telepathically. But Jess' mind contains a lot of feelings about Carol that she doesn't exactly want Carol to know about.
My recipient left me a lot of narrative freedom, so I thought, okay, I'll just write tropes I like. I was considering soulbonds. Then I went and actually read the issue where Carol and Jess meet (Avengers Annual #10) and it is this glorious pile of perfect idfic, thank you, Chris Claremont. Jess saves Carol from drowning and Carol has amnesia and Professor X comes and puts her memories back together and Jess telepathically experiences all Carol's memories and they become friends and go live at Xavier's school together for a bit while Carol recuperates and then the Avengers come and Carol tells them off for never caring about her (re: the Marcus thing) and she and Jess ~hold hands~ and they think about how much they mean to each other and I swear this is actual canon. So I thought, man, I am totally writing a story about THAT. Except, since I'd actually nominated Spider-Woman and Avengers is YT-ineligible as far as I know, I gave it a Spider-Woman framing story.
So there. I enjoyed writing it, anyway.
