What I Just Finished Reading

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Beats Up the Marvel Universe: I wanted to read this before Yuletide signups closed to make sure it wasn't going to alter what I wanted. And it didn't, and it's awesome. Not just because it has Tony and Doreen teaming up to take down Doreen's evil duplicate (and Tony in his underwear AGAIN) but that doesn't hurt. Doreen's evil duplicate beating up the Marvel Universe is amazing. There's a flowchart. The supporting characters are great, as usual. And in the end it's uplifting and happy. Eee. If you're reading Squirrel Girl, go read this; it's great.

What I'm Reading Now

Comics Wednesday! More of the post-CWII comics are starting. Alas, I am mostly not reading them.

Great Lakes Avengers #1: So Connie Ferrari (Steve's ex, remember her?) buys the Avengers trademark back from the former GLA in exchange for reinstituting them and everyone goes on a wacky road trip and basically this is going to be so wacky. I was hoping Squirrel Girl was going to be on this team but I guess not. Will probably not keep reading this one. (Although now I am very curious as to what happened to "Stark Holdings.")

Power Man and Iron Fist #9: A Civil War II tie-in. Danny's still in prison and Carol's going after Luke because she saw him causing a prison break. Turns out the prison break was actually caused by the SHIELD agents who came with Carol to try to stop the prison break. Never saw that one coming! I will say that Carol's side has come off understandably in exactly one tie-in so far, and that was A-Force. I want to keep liking this, but it keeps getting worse.

Uncanny Avengers #15: Here we are in "Civil War II Aftermath." Last time, Steve dissolved the Unity Squad. But they're still sort of together now, looking for Bruce Banner's body, and somehow The Hand are involved because they want to resurrect him. Deadpool and Rogue pretend Steve didn't break up the team and they're all going to Japan! And also Elektra's there, because of course. Anyway they got there too late and the Hulk's back. Time for even more punching next issue, and the team is beginning to realize that Steve actually disbanded them, whoops. I want Steve back in this book. He's on the cover! (I still really like the team, though. Deadpool and Cable and Rogue and Johnny Storm and Jan Van Dyne? Yessss.)

What I'm Reading Next

Maybe an actual book? On the other hand, I'm hoping to make a lot of progress on this Big Bang story this weekend. So maybe not an actual book. Yet. Read this entry on Dreamwidth ||
