Dear Yuletide Author,
Hi!
You've got me for Yuletide! Don't worry! I'm easy, I like a lot of things, and I will try to give you a lot of ideas -- but if you already have an idea, please go for it.
Finding me on the internet: I have LJ, DW, Pinboard, Tumblr, Imzy, and AO3. I have done Yuletide for a few years now and have a bunch of old letters (2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, and 2008) if you wish to peruse them. The 2015 letter is probably the most relevant, as three of my requests are repeated; I'm mostly reusing the prompts.
For Yuletide I would basically like a happy, positive story. Some peril and angst is fine (though ideally not too grimdark -- no extended misery, torture, rocks fall everyone dies, etc.), but I would really like a happy ending here. (I mention this because I know this isn't what I always write, but it's Yuletide and I'd like to feel warm and fuzzy feelings.)
More preferences:
Things I like: I like snark. I like worldbuilding. I like cultural details, cultural differences, and basically the kind of thing where two people coming from different places have to work through their rough spots. I like competence. I like languages, linguistics, wordplay, and translation. UST and pining. AUs, especially canon divergence. Characters who are loyal to each other, who know each other well, and who will always have each other's backs.
I seem to have good success saying it, so I'll mention this again: I like tropes. I like tropes a lot. If it's not on my DNW list above, I will probably adore it. Loyalty kink, multiverse fic, identity porn (my ESPECIAL FAVE for superheroes), huddling for warmth, aliens make them do it, wingfic, xeno, time travel, truth or dare, soulbonds and/or telepathy, amnesia fic, tentacles, D/s AUs, sex pollen, truth serum, presumed dead, everyone secretly thinks we're dating and/or we must pretend to be dating, characters interact with the media, characters interact with fandom, epistolary fic... and so on. If none of my prompts ping you, honestly, just take a trope and write a trope-tastic story and I will be thrilled.
Things I would prefer not to receive: A/B/O. Kidfic. Pregnancy fic. Super-graphic violence, rape, or non-con. Permanent death fic of characters who don't die in canon. (Superhero temporary death is fine.) Non-powered AUs for the superheroes. Infidelity. Animal harm/death.
My two big squicks are eye trauma and things that make feel sympathetic embarrassment (generally, scenes where characters experience non-con humiliation/embarrassment). Please don't go there.
As regards smut, I think only the Spider-Woman and GotG requests lend themselves to smut, really. In that case, if you are writing pairing fic, I am definitely up for fic of any level of explicitness. I do like kinkfic. All parts of the BDSM acronym are fine by me, special fondness for power dynamics, bondage, pain and impact play. Vanilla is also fine. Special bonus points: with the superhero f/f I would be over the moon if you managed to incorporate superhero powers in a sex scene. Also costume kink, where relevant. (Do Not Want: scat, watersports, vore, vomit, ageplay, piercing play.)

Request One:
BIRDLAND (Interactive Fiction)
Bridget Leaside, Bellwoods Park
Request: The birds, the bizarre dreams, awkward teenage lesbian romance -- what's not to love? I'm curious about Bridget and Bell's life after summer camp -- either far in the future, like Bridget's fantasies of college, or what happens right after they get home. More aliens or just more slice-of-life happiness, it's all good. Also, I really enjoyed the birds and all of the bird dreams, so if you just want to write Bridget explaining an entirely different facet of human behavior (your choice!) to the birds (ideally with her feelings for Bell somewhere in there), I would adore that.
The canon: BIRDLAND is an interactive fiction game (choose-your-own-adventure) that can be played at that link right there. I think it took me somewhere between half an hour and an hour to finish, but I replayed it a couple of times with different stats to see additional scenes. (Note that the pairing and the ending don't change, as far as I know, but there are a few additional moments between Bridget and Bell that you can unlock with the right stats.) BIRDLAND features teenagers at a summer camp and their occasionally-awkward romantic feelings for each other and also weird bird aliens. If you've ever wanted to play a game where you explain to a giant bird alien how to go about being a pirate or a Wild West sheriff (or even a college student) and then deal with your extremely gay feelings for one of your friends, this is the game for you. (There's also a prequel game, Bell Park, Youth Detective, about Bell's previous experience as a plucky teen detective, but you don't have to play that to play this.)
More details: Honestly, I basically just want something that feels like more of the game. I'm interested in seeing Bridget and Bell's relationship develop -- because of course that was one of my favorite things. You can either age them up -- like the game did in the college sequence -- or just give me more of what happens when they get back home. What's it like to be them now that they're not at camp? How does their relationship work? Are they happy? Are they out to their friends/family? Does Bell solve more mysteries? Does Bridget help? Do they come back as camp counselors at some point? (Honestly, that sounds fun. A trip down memory lane! Possibly with fewer birds!) I just want them to be happy together.
(I think for these two I would like something with approximately the same explicitness as canon, so even if you do age them up, I'd rather not read porn about them.)
Also I loved all the bird dreams, so if you want to write a bird dream somewhere in there -- or honestly, if you just want to write a bird dream and nothing else -- please, go for it. Maybe the birds come back. Who knows? My favorite dreams were the sheriff and the pirate so I think I prefer the more grandiose sort of fantasies, but anything you want to write about would be great. Explain to the birds how to be a good astronaut! A good Yuletide author! Whatever catches your fancy! (Bonus points for working in Bridget's feelings for Bell, of course.)

Guardians of the Galaxy (Comics)
Heather Douglas, Phyla-Vell
Request: I would like all the fic about telepathic space dragon girlfriends, please and thank you. Porn or romance or exciting space adventures (or all of the above!) are equally welcome! You could tell me more about the early days of their relationship! You could give me an outtake from one of their adventures together, with the Guardians or separately! You could tell me more about when Moondragon was an actual dragon! You could resurrect Phyla-Vell! I'm sure that would make Moondragon happy. I enjoy fic involving telepathy, and if you want to go there, I seriously would enjoy more, um, intimate fic in which Moondragon is still a dragon.
The canon: Marvel Unlimited has most of Cosmic Marvel and as far as I know MU has everything with them together in it; that was how I was reading it. Though apparently Phyla-Vell and Moondragon started getting together in issues of Captain Marvel that I haven't actually read (v4 #25), you'll find them in modern Cosmic Marvel (here is a reading list). They appear together in a bit of Annihilation, a whole lot of Annihilation: Conquest (the Quasar miniseries is pretty much just about them), and they were members of the v2 Guardians of the Galaxy. Currently Phyla-Vell is dead, but seeing as how Moondragon was dead before, this is not something I see as an insurmountable problem for their relationship.

Okay, so I read all of modern Cosmic Marvel before I went to see the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, and this pretty much resulted in me discovering Phyla-Vell and Moondragon and then shrieking OMG TELEPATHIC SPACE DRAGON GIRLFRIENDS WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME THIS WAS CANON at my internet friends for a week because, seriously, everything I have ever wanted in a pairing is right here, in terms of Things I Like. (This is me squeeing about them on Tumblr.)
Basically, uh, they're in love and they're awesome superheroes and they save the universe and did I mention the telepathy and the dragon thing and it's like someone made a pairing with all of my kinks just for me.
As for what they can do in fic... well, I have some ideas in the prompt, but basically, you know, I just want to see them together and happy. You can set something now and resurrect Phyla (yes, please resurrect Phyla), or tell me about some point when they were both alive and human. Or human and draconic! (Not kidding, I swear. I will totally read that. I'm not saying it has to be explicit. I'm just curious about how they can actually work things out when one of them is a dragon; the "how do we even do this?" is one of my favorite things about xeno. Telepathy, maybe? I like telepathy a lot.) Look, I'm really into the dragon thing. I know that. But if you're not into that, you really don't have to go there. They can just cuddle! In a scaly manner! Or as people! I'm perfectly happy with fic about them as people! (But, yes, I like dragon xeno and I'm not kidding.)
Or they can go on awesome space adventures and punch Galactus in the face or something. Those are always good times. Speaking generally, I also always enjoy plotlines where the Guardians go back to Earth to fight whatever cosmic forces are threatening the Earth this month (hey, remember how Moondragon used to be an Avenger?) or when Earth-based heroes go visit them.

Spider-Woman (Comic)
Carol Danvers, Jessica Drew
Request: I would love a story about these two with the kind of tropes that appear in superhero fanfiction generally: fighting the bad guys together! Bonding with awkward UST! Banter! Negotiating the mismatch between Jess' new street-level work and Carol's cosmic work! Carol the science-fiction nerd! Tropey tropes like soulbonding or sex pollen or or truth serum or secret identity stuff! Residual angst about the various things that have happened to them! Just give me a story where they do something together. I would really, really adore femslash but gen is also great.
The canon: Comics! Spider-Woman is a currently ongoing Marvel comic, available wherever comics are sold, dealing with Jess Drew's street-level career as a private investigator, and also featuring a lot of guest appearances by her BFF Carol Danvers. Honestly, I nominated Spider-Woman because I figured that was a good canon to ask for Carol and Jess in, seeing as how they both show up here; it's fine with me if you want to write something that doesn't specifically reference the details of the run (or is set in older canon) and brings in elements of their shared history and wider canon. That would be welcome, actually. (I do like seeing Jess-the-PI, though.)
More details: If you're the kind of person who is up for writing Carol/Jess femslash, I would absolutely adore some Carol/Jess. If you aren't, no problem! Fic about their friendship is also welcome!
Here are some ideas. Just throwing them out there:
1. Current canon: Carol helps Jess fight street-level crime and/or Jess goes with Carol to Alpha Flight. Does it work out? Do they hate it? Do they love it?
2. Fun with Jess' pheromones. SO MUCH FUN with Jess' pheromones. Maybe she's influencing Carol. (Kinky pairing option: Maybe she's consensually influencing Carol. I am here for consensual mind control. Yesss.)
3. Identity porn! I know they really don't have any in canon, but perhaps an AU where they did. Maybe Jess meets this amazing woman in the Starjammers (it was the Starjammers then, right?) and mild-mannered science-fiction author Carol at the same time. (Or, hey, Carol can meet Spider-Woman and Jess.)
4. That reminds me, science-fiction nerd Carol! Maybe she introduces Jess to her favorite things.
5. The multiverse! Here's a world where they're a couple! And another world where they're a couple! I sense a theme.
6. Jess gets amnesia because it's definitely NOT Carol's turn to get amnesia. Carol, of course, has to tell her about everything she doesn't remember. You pick whether they were together or whether they only wish they'd been. Man, I love amnesia fic.
7. Truth serum! Uncomfortable confessions of feelings!
8. Some good old classic post-battle h/c. Maybe they patch each other up. Maybe they cuddle. Maybe they're trapped in the Savage Land. Everyone likes the Savage Land.
9. Oh no, one of them might be dead. The angst! The angst!
10. Okay, I still really want a story about the fallout from Secret Invasion, maybe right after Agent of SWORD. How does Carol feel about the whole Veranke thing?
11. Soulbonds! Soulbonds, please! All the soulbonds!
I would prefer that you not write a Civil War II story, please. It's fine by me if you want to set it in current canon, I just... don't want fic about their current epic tragic breakup for Yuletide. (The first Civil War is fine, though. Of course, that, uh, wasn't actually Jess.) I also am not a big fan of kidfic, and I would prefer if you didn't focus on that element of Jess' current title, if you are going to write within her current run.

Request Four:
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl
Doreen Green
Request: Just give me something that feels like canon. Maybe you could pick your favorite hilarious and/or obscure Marvel villain and have them go at it (with trading card, please). Or give me a day in the life of Doreen Green. Write a fic entirely made up of her Twitter updates. Include Fun Facts about science if you want! Show me her and her friends/superhero buddies -- bring in whoever you want. Humor is good. I also welcome wacky fourth-wall-breaking commentary in the style of the text on every page of the comic.
The canon: More comics! The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl concerns the adventures of Doreen Green, mild-mannered CS student and also SQUIRREL GIRL. She has a tail. She talks to squirrels. She can defeat any villain in the Marvel Universe! (She originally started as a joke, and she was defeating very big villains off-panel, but the current comic is actually having her do it on panel and it's all very funny.) There are a bunch of trades out, and it's an ongoing comic. Please note that at the current time I have not yet read the new graphic novel "The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Beats Up the Marvel Universe," but hopefully I will have done so by Yuletide.
More details: I know I got a treat for Squirrel Girl last year (@TravelLatveria by DoreyG) but it was so much fun that I continue to want more! All the Squirrel Girl fic! Honestly, I could just read twenty more stories written entirely in the format of Doreen's Twitter conversations with Tony Stark and other random people. Or those fake Wikipedia entries like the ones Doom had in the timeline where he ruled the world. That kind of thing.
You don't have to use any of the specific villains from canon (although you can if you want), but if you want to do a gen adventure in the style of canon I would appreciate your favorite totally random obscure villain. The weirder, the better! Surprise me!
One of my favorite recent moments was the issue where Doreen saved the day by counting on her fingers in binary. I am only a Fake Geek and did not know how to do this, but if you know more geeky things like that, it would be great if you could put them in! Teach me something nerdy!
I would also be up for Doreen/Nancy, if that's your thing; I am not specifically requesting Nancy, in case you don't feel like writing her and just want to write Doreen's gen adventures, but if you do like f/f, and you want to go there, please feel free.

I would prefer that you not write a Civil War II story, please. It's fine by me if you want to set it in current canon, I just... don't want fic about their current epic tragic breakup for Yuletide. (The first Civil War is fine, though. Of course, that, uh, wasn't actually Jess.) I also am not a big fan of kidfic, and I would prefer if you didn't focus on that element of Jess' current title, if you are going to write within her current run.

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl
Doreen Green
Request: Just give me something that feels like canon. Maybe you could pick your favorite hilarious and/or obscure Marvel villain and have them go at it (with trading card, please). Or give me a day in the life of Doreen Green. Write a fic entirely made up of her Twitter updates. Include Fun Facts about science if you want! Show me her and her friends/superhero buddies -- bring in whoever you want. Humor is good. I also welcome wacky fourth-wall-breaking commentary in the style of the text on every page of the comic.
The canon: More comics! The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl concerns the adventures of Doreen Green, mild-mannered CS student and also SQUIRREL GIRL. She has a tail. She talks to squirrels. She can defeat any villain in the Marvel Universe! (She originally started as a joke, and she was defeating very big villains off-panel, but the current comic is actually having her do it on panel and it's all very funny.) There are a bunch of trades out, and it's an ongoing comic. Please note that at the current time I have not yet read the new graphic novel "The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Beats Up the Marvel Universe," but hopefully I will have done so by Yuletide.
More details: I know I got a treat for Squirrel Girl last year (@TravelLatveria by DoreyG) but it was so much fun that I continue to want more! All the Squirrel Girl fic! Honestly, I could just read twenty more stories written entirely in the format of Doreen's Twitter conversations with Tony Stark and other random people. Or those fake Wikipedia entries like the ones Doom had in the timeline where he ruled the world. That kind of thing.
You don't have to use any of the specific villains from canon (although you can if you want), but if you want to do a gen adventure in the style of canon I would appreciate your favorite totally random obscure villain. The weirder, the better! Surprise me!
One of my favorite recent moments was the issue where Doreen saved the day by counting on her fingers in binary. I am only a Fake Geek and did not know how to do this, but if you know more geeky things like that, it would be great if you could put them in! Teach me something nerdy!
I would also be up for Doreen/Nancy, if that's your thing; I am not specifically requesting Nancy, in case you don't feel like writing her and just want to write Doreen's gen adventures, but if you do like f/f, and you want to go there, please feel free.
