Thanks to everyone for contributing answers to the question of what Sutcliff I should read. I have now concluded that:
1. They are apparently ALL AWESOME even the ones I don't have.
2. I need to read Sword at Sunset which I do not own.
3. They are often very depressing.
4. They are children's/YA books only by virtue of having heroes who do not actually appear to know what sex is. Except some of them have vaguely implied sex. I guess.
5. Frontier Wolf!
Also I totally did not intend to start another WIP off my idea list, especially since (a) it's kind of remix-y (of a story by someone whose profile says they are totally fine with remixes, but still I don't know them and it feels weird), (b) I am not sure the story even works, and (c) it requires familiarity with a massive canon that I am not especially up on at this minute and am already having plot-critical timeline woes. Also (d) OH GOD I ALREADY HAVE SO MUCH FIC TO FINISH. (It was one of those things where I was hoping writing it down would make my brain shut up about it; I am not sure it worked.)
