This evening I headed in to Pleasantview again to have Ty Bubbler start his life as an adult.
Ty purchased a modest home in Pleasantview's downtown area. Though a little dilapidated, it was certainly within his means and he felt sure that with time and effort it could become a very nice house. Having spent the last few years of college learning the true meaning of thrift, Ty fought the urge to splurge and purchased serviceable home furnishings that were well within his means. He sure never wanted to be caught without essentials like a television set again. Man, he'd missed television! Once he had everything where he wanted it, Ty called his long term girlfriend and ex-drama professor, Prof. Cara Phillips and invited her to come see his new digs. She was in for the surprise of her life when he proposed to her in his new living room. She was thrilled, however and eagerly agreed. Ty decided to splurge on just one item - a pretty wedding arch for the backyard. He wanted their nuptials to be memorable.
There was no reason to wait, so the two were married within the hour. The ceremony was completely private, with no witnesses but Simgod and the sky. Afterwards, they slipped in to the bedroom for an equally private honeymoon. It was the first time for both of them, and Ty for one was glad he'd waited. Cara proved incredibly fertile and fell pregnant the very first time. Soon after, the welcome wagon arrived, consisting of Don Lothario, John Burb and Jason Larson. Ty invited them in and after a quick makeover to satisfy his new bride's lust for red hair and full face makeup (aka freckles!), it was time for lunch.
Ty of course insisted that his first meal as a married man would be a grilled cheese sandwich. Cara was disinclined to have something so ordinary and whipped herself up a single serving of cheesecake in lieu of a wedding cake. Twins incoming! That afternoon, Ty made an effort to make nice with their closest neighbour, Jason Larson and the two quickly became friends. Cara had no wish to stay away from the workforce and decided to take a job in the politics career - at least until a start for her dream job in the military came along! Ty ducked out in a cab for a while to pay a visit to Sue's Secret Kitchen. He felt another shot at the cooking contest was in order. Once there, he was amazed to find an entire watermelon in one of the refrigerators, and came up with a devious plan to try to trick the judge in to thinking he'd grown it himself at home. Tricky!
Food Judge: "Ugh, does he think I'm that stupid? Seriously, somebody does this at least once a week. It's not even funny anymore...."
Yup, not impressed. The resident chef won the ribbon and Ty won some glares from the judge. Poor Ty. He hasn't yet learned that if you've thought of it, it's probably been tried before! Anyway, he thought it was still pretty amusing and chuckled to himself all the way home.
Tuesday started with Cara taking the carpool to her very first day at her new job. Ty served up a refreshing yet unhealthy breakfast of mango ice cream. After breakfast, he called townie Christian Love for a long chat and found they got along so well over the phone that he decided to call him back afterwards to invite him over.
It was the beginning of a beautiful bromance! Christian would never admit it, but he'd like it if they were more than just friends. Sorry, Christian, but Ty just doesn't swing that way. (Note: I find it hilarious that Pleasantview's version of Christian Love is gay. It's funny enough that his name is more suited to a singles chatroom than a person. It's even funnier that he's as far from straight as it's possible to be.) Ty decided to call a few more of his friends to invite them to a belated housewarming party. A few gatecrashers in the form of romance drama professors showed up, however. Actually, they seem to show up several times a day and just walk in to the house. Creeps! Upon arrival home from work, Cara's pregnancy started showing. She and Ty retired to the backyard for some very romantic slow dancing in the moonlight. It wasn't enough to combat the effects of her former colleagues, however. Their unwanted advances on the other guests and their refusal to stay gone after being asked to leave made Ty's housewarming party somewhat of a dud. Thankfully, Ty was too lost in his new bride's eyes to care about his party's lack of success. The only thing that could tear him away was a phone call, which turned out to be an offer of a subscription to the music and dance magazine. He accepted gladly. It's always nice to have something to read!
The two newlyweds awoke early (around 4am) on Wednesday morning. Ty served up a hearty breakfast of grilled cheese sandwiches, which they enjoyed together. Cara, who had actually brought $12,000 in savings to the union, decided to make a few purchases, the most important of which was the couple's first car! Ty invited his new buddy Christian over to spend the day with him. Cara entered her final trimester and was in bed exhausted by 2:30pm.
Christian: "Ow, not so hard! My skin is very sensitive!"
Ty: "Bahaha! It's just red hands, man. Chillax!"
The two became the best of friends from all the time they'd spent together the past two days. Note: You know there's a girl in the house when pretty white shabby chic starts creeping it's way into the decor. Ty later invited another of his friends, dormie Remington Ebadi over to catch up. He also decided that since Cara was making all these purchases, he'd like something frivolous as well. He had a lovely hot tub installed in the backyard. Cara was up again at 8pm, and of course she would be pulling an all nighter as a result. Ty settled down on the couch with a cookbook and gained a cooking point. Hopefully the next time he entered a cooking contest, he'd be more prepared. He and Remington hung out awhile and those two also became besties. Ty then called another friend, his former mailman Pao Mellon for a chat. And this sudden attention brought him up to best friend status with Pao as well! Popularity sims - so exhausting!
Poor Cara. She looks so uncomfortable!
Rebecca: *is unimpressed*
Cara decided to bake a batch of chocolate chip cookies. However, despite her nine coooking points, she somehow got distracted enough to burn them! Still, Cara was hungry enough to eat almost the entire batch. Ty called a couple more of his friends to invite them to a party, which went much better than his last one! Cara spent much of the party just chilling on the couch watching television. She felt far too ungainly to do much else! She did receive a phone call offering a subscription to the film and literature magazine. Since she did indeed have an interest in the subject, she decided to accept the offer.
Cara: "I'm not really fail in the kitchen. Everybody has their off moments. Even you."
