Yup, instead of playing The Fennells, today I headed to Pleasantview's Sim State University to play what remains of The Freshman Household.

Saturday morning started with Jared heading to class.  Ty made himself his favourite breakfast - a grilled cheese sandwich.  Characteristically, that wasn't quite enough grilled cheese for Ty, so he served up a big plate of them for lunch as well.  All that grilled cheese cooking earned him the notice of Sue's Secret Kitchen, who sent their minion to drop off a shiny membership card for Ty.

After class, Jared made a call to his fiance, Sam Thomas.  He was quite surprised to learn over the phone that his sweetie had fallen pregnant their first time, but he wasn't unhappy about the situation.  Sam urged Jared to stay in school and finish out his degree, and not to worry too much.  Everything would surely be fine.  After the phone call, Jared needed some alone time to think things through.  He and Heidi, the household's pet parrot, bonded while Jared thought.

Ty sensed that Jared would like the house to himself for a few hours, so he took his shiny new membership card and took a cab to Sue's Secret Kitchen to try his first ever cooking contest.  He thought it probably best not to serve his favourite meal up to the food judge - not everybody loves grilled cheese as much as he does, after all!  Things certainly seemed promising, what with such a pristine kitchen to work his magic in.

Unfortunately for Ty, he got distracted during the final stages of cooking and burnt the homemade english muffins he had worked so hard to create.  Money was a little too tight to start over, so he decided to enter them anyway and hope for the best.  The competition was terribly fierce, however.  The blue ribbon was awarded to the resident bartender.  Ty wasn't too disappointed - he'd done his best and that was all he ever asked of himself.  He spent some time getting to know Lucy Hanby, a local maid, before hailing a cab home.  No need to rush back when Jared was sorely in need of time to himself!  Upon arriving home, Ty nommed on his favourite snack  until it was time for class.  Jared spent his evening playing catch with a local dormie in the front yard, but the summer heat thwarted his fun and he became terribly overheated and had to down several glasses of water before he felt okay again.  Prof. Abbey Swain dropped by, and Jared managed to convince this former professor to write one of his assignments.  Win!

Jared started Sunday morning in the backyard catching fireflies.  He promptly forgot about them once he'd situated them on the kitchen table, and they sadly died later from lack of air.

It was such a lovely clear morning once the sun had risen, so Jared spent the remainder of his time before class birdwatching.  His head was most definitely feeling clearer and he no longer feared what the future would bring.  Everything would turn out alright, he knew it.  Ty tried to catch some fireflies of his own, but failed miserably.  He served up a delicious yet unhealthy breakfast of vanilla sprinkle doughnuts and then spent some time reading.

After class, Jared called Sam for a long chat.  He's been quite concerned, not to mention devoted.  He's not one to let a day go by without making sure his baby momma is okay.  Ty served up grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch and earned a cooking point for his efforts.  He ate two sandwiches in quick succession and all of a sudden his toned physique was no more.  Back to the average body shape for Ty!  Jared's friend, dormie Ray Bruenig, dropped by to spend some time with him, and he and Jared became best friends.  By then, the moment had arrived - the final exam for both boys.  Jared scraped through with a C+, but Ty had once more spent a semester failing to study.  This was the last straw and he was expelled from college.
On Monday morning, Jared called Sam again to make sure all was well.  She assured him it was, but he was unconvinced.  He called her back just moments after they'd rung off and asked her to come spend the day with him.  She agreed.

Jared: "Wow, Sam, you look positively radiant!"
Sam: "Cut the crap!  I look fat.  I know it."
Jared: "No, you look pregnant.  And beautiful."
Sam: *doesn't believe that for a second*
They spent the entire day together, with several backrubs for Sam included.  She left after Jared had to go to the day's classes, but she felt much better about how things would be after the baby was born.  He loved her.  He wasn't even a little bit upset about her pregnancy.  The future was looking bright!
