I recently finished The Grapes of Wrath. According to the nice little bookjacket, it's an American classic, but since I had mixed feelings about it, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the novel.

Has anyone read Yann Martel's new novel, Beatrice and Virgirl?

Since Friday, my mother has purchased two novels on the Kennedy family. She must have already read half a dozen books on them, but apparently there's still stuff she doesn't know about them. I don't understand this obsession of hers, I really don't.

I swear I've read "Wenlock Edge" from Alice Munro's Too Much Happiness before, but I can't place where I would have read it. It appeared in the New Yorker, but I don't read the New Yorker. This is very perplexing.

I set a goal of reading 52 books this year. Admittedly I'm pretty sure I read at least this every year, so it's more like I'm curious about how many books I do actually read in a given year. We'll see how many books I read. School books aren't included.
