Lol, I know what you mean about the sex stuff standing out. It's gotten to the point where unless I'm actively seeking out wank material, I skim to see if there are issues and then usually end up skipping the smut entirely, alas. Sorry for infecting you, too! But I'm glad that it has inspired you in different ways.
I kinda get the whole gender role vibe from it, too. Even from stories that aren't big on sex. They're two men, they're hot, they're doing manly things... and then this one is all about the cooking and cuddling and always the bottom. It's like a bad author insert. "I would really like to have sex with this guy, but luckily these two would be soooo hot together, so I'll just write slash porn for now until I can stalk them in person!" Not all of it, thankfully. But I'm seeing surprising amounts of it and it makes me sad. I rarely read femslash, mostly because it's hard for me to find two females in a single fandom that I like and would like to know more about and that actually interact with each other in a meaningful way. And my issue with smut there is different, too, because with slash I can accept a whole lot as I am not a man, so I'll take the author's word with how it's described. With women involved I start doing the whole "but my body doesn't like that/react that way" thing and it can throw me out of a sex scene faster than almost anything else.
There's also a host of people who do agree with Bill Clinton. He did not have sex with that woman; he had a blow job. Because, obviously, sex and blow jobs are completely different *rolls eyes*
I think all guys want/like a blow job, but giving them can be a whole different matter. Although I have heard it mentioned that blow jobs and hand jobs both are better for guys from guys, because they know what another guy will like. Not entirely sure I buy into it, but...
It's the maximum amount of pleasure for the least amount of work.
Now you have me thinking of the spnkinkmeme again, lol. There was something there about how the guys were really tired and had been together for long enough to know each others hot spots, so they hit all of them trying to get the other off with the least about of effort and time so they could get the most amount of sleep. Why they had to get each other off before going to sleep is something that wasn't explained in the summary.
