2008 in a nutshell
1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before? Bought my OWN alcohol with a ligit I.D. Broke a heart. Did IT in another state. Went to TKE Semi formal. Lived in a real non-college apartment. Launched pancakes at Pegasus Landing Security. Made a mockery and game out of a TKE staff (staff ball).. good times. "Threw a TKE pledge through a window" in classroom 1.Went on a real date on Valentines day. Drank a martini that actually was good (thanks billy). Dated someone signficantly older than me. Bar hopped in NYC (best night ever...minus the puking in Penn Station). Played a very risque practical joke on Lauren.. she didn't like it. Went to IKEA. Ate at Hard Rock. Ate at Serendipity. Went to Gotham Comedy Club in NYC. Went to BOSTON! Saw cancer cured. Was a News Editor and an Opinions Editor. Wrote columns. Wrote for the Orlando Sentinel. Got room service (thanks Dave). Took a tour of the city. Planned an 80's prom for Kappa and many many socials and events. Painted a mural in an elementary school. Took a LITTLE BROTHER John J. Sexton my love! Read Twilight. Took birth control lol. ew. Took someone other than Drew to formal (yay phi mu alpha). Moved to Oviedo. Been backstabbed in the workplace. Worked for a tanning salon. Saw a movie with BOTH of my sisters at the same time. Got a BIG BROTHER (before I started dating him haha). Drank cisco (EW EW EW). Saw my best friend graduate. Saw the Statue of Liberty close. Took out a student loan. Started a real blog. Paid real bills NOT to Pegasus Landing. Became a Kappa paperwork expert.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I'm so bad I can't even remember if I made any last year. I'd like to actually get down to my goal weight this year (125) I'm 10 pounds off. I also want to get a makeover before i enter the real world.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Yes Renea and she's so incredible for being able to do that. Her little Alyssa is absolutely adorable too.
4. Did anyone close to you die? No thank God... we've had A LOT of close calls this year.
5. What countries did you visit? America. The only on that counts because I'm a selfish American. And Iraq via webcam.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? A good job. Closer friends. A life in a new city. A stronger relationship with my Love :) A better attitude. More of my time to give back to the community
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? August 5. One of the most fun nights of my life and it all happened in NYC with the guy that I love.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Being both the News Editor and Opinions Editor of the Central Florida Future and being published in the Orlando Sentinel. Also, I got an internship with Orlando Magazine! Won a Knights Images Award for best Press Release.
9. What was your biggest failure? Letting my bleeding heart get in the way of my competition only to be backstabbed. Not living with Lauren too.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I got bronchitus like 10 times. ugh. seriously.
11. What was the best thing you bought? My computer
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?John Sexton for being the loudest person at any and every social he attended with us.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Co-workers. Professors (sadly I did witness some ridiculous behavior outside the classroom). Friends who showed their true colors. Friends who dishearten me with bad choices. That one horrible night at the TKE house that supposedly involved cops but not really.
14. Where did most of your money go? Kappa. dumb skanks run me dry
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Going to New York! Everytime I got so giddy!
16. What songs will always remind you of 2008? Womanizer- Britney Spears (once you start singing it you will NEVER stop) That stupid Pink song that na na na na na na na I'm gonna start a fight song. ew. Lady gaga and that just dance song. Kanye's love locked down. The "Exercise" song by Dj Webster.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
A. Happier or sadder? Um. I'm teetering. I think happier because I actually made some decision about my love life and my homelife is a little better.
B. Thinner or fatter? About the same. I haven't gained any weight, but I feel flabbier.
C. Richer or poorer? ugh Poorer. I. Need. A. Job.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Laughing, relaxing, having "me" time, non-journalism things, volunteering
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? crying, stressing, over analyzing, wallowing
20. How will you be spending Christmas? Currently in Titusville... as usual.
22. Did you fall in love in 2008? Yes. Very much so.
23. How many one-night stands? I don't do one night stands. ever.
24. What was your favorite TV program? Sex in the City. I finally started watching it. I also took a liking to Weeds and Boston Legal.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? I don't hate anyone. ever. However I have a strong disliking towards a few people who did me wrong this year. But forgive and forget, that's all we can do.
26. What was the best book you read? The girls guide to absolutely everything. I'd say Twilight but I just wasn't that impressed.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Katy Perry and I finally took a liking to Bon Jovi and Sheryl Crow
28. What did you want and get? Someone to love... and someone who bought me a Chi hair straightener for Christmas. he is the bomb.com
30. What was your favorite film of this year? Toss up between Dark Knight and Forgetting Sarah Marshall
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 21 and I went to Bennigans on University for my first ligit drink (it was a chocolotini or something) and then a few days later I went to Saks again haha and out to Antigua after where Kristen stabbed my foot with her spike heel. Billy dragged me to John's apartment downtown where I wrote in his guestbook something evidently "hilarious" about a unicorn, complete with illustrations.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Better communication.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? I started to adopt a sort of WASP look complete with sweaters, shirt dresses, high heels, polos, tights and layering just about everything with an undershirt.
34. What kept you sane? Billy. Mariah. John Sexton. Netflix.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Heath Ledger... and then he died on me.
36. What political issue stirred you the most? Well I guess the election. BUT as far as local issues go, definitely the Caylee Anthony shinanigans.
37. Who did you miss? FOJO FOJO FOJO and My pride lol.
38. Who was the best new person you met? Um..I'd have to say Billie Hartl because she is funniest Journalism major I've met so far.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008: Even when shit goes down, you have to believe everything happens for a reason and it's happening for the best. It's important never to lose your faith. Bad times happen to make us stronger. Doors shut so windows can open. It's true I tell you. If you believe you have the world by the balls, you WILL have the world by the balls.
