belated post

I know, many of you thought I'd abandoned lj - eh, just been busy I guess. The news, in order of newness, since my last post:

This week, I became a partner in a fishing camp on Ayres Reef between Ayres and Mesquite Bays, which are between Aransas and San Antonio Bays. The link shows the spot - a couple of miles from the mouth of fabled Cedar Bayou, and one of the prime fishing spots on the Texas coast. The cabin permits from the State have not been issued since the 1960s, and will never be issued new again, so this is kind of a coup. The pic is from the boat landing, looking over the slab of the previous cabin, and shows just how much brush must be removed. I'll take more pics tomorrow.

The 11th of April marked 3 years since Rip (in userpic) came into my life; he's fat and sassy, at between 95 and 100 lbs, altho last fall he began showing symptoms of a seemingly mild case of epilepsy. I've seen three or four seizures since October.

Six weeks ago, I bought a new truck. It's a quad-cab Dodge Power Wagon, 2008 model, in the same red color as my old truck. I've coveted this particular option package since it was first offered in 2005 - and now I have it! The pic is of an 05, but mine is nearly identical in appearance, including color but not the sunroof. The plastic on the front bumper is black, as well.

Three months ago, and thirteen months after purchasing it, my 20' jonboat finally saw the water. There have been some teething pains, as one would expect in resuscitating an older boat, but it's going to be fantastic. With 115 horsepower, I'm looking for top speeds of 43-44 mph, combined with the ability to float in 6-8" of water when lightly loaded and to carry a bunch of weight when heavily loaded. Oh yeah, and it's great for catching fish! I don't think it's been photographed yet.

I'll try not to be such a stranger - but if I am, see y'all in 31 weeks! I do read browse most of y'all's
posts...
