"I am a delicate flower, dammit," Wilson protests, just as the person he's talking to picks up the phone. Wilson flushes red, stammering, "Nothing, Mother, just talking to House."
Oh, god, that alone kills me. But, uh. Does he hang up the phone, or what...? 'Cos you just have them making out, and the phone (no, now the Phone) is just pathetically hanging off Wilson's shoulder, his mother screaming on the end while both of the boys are oblivious.
House is struck by how natural they look together, how right. He's seen pictures of himself and Stacy, and they never looked so relaxed in each other's company.
Yes. I agree with this wholeheartedly. Excellent again!
Glad to hear it. I get fussed at about that opinion in rl. But Stacy and House look like someone shoved them together, while House and Wilson just kind of...melt together. Or something.
i am a delicate flower damnit! ah wilson, how i love thee. that reminds me of when one of my favourite teachers/directors said in a drama meeting "i am the pretty pretty princess!" oh how i love rog, hehe.
*grinning* I'd kill to hear him say it. He is, dammit. With delicate sensibilities, even! The only think I find funnier is House calling himself pretty. Which he would, without the slightest hint of irony.
well he's already gone for i think it was distinguished and interesting? something like that, pretty is just the next step after that hehe ^^. i would love to hear both of those.
I love the idea that when House sees the two of them in the mirror, he sees living reality reflected -- it's not a posed, long-dead moment like with Stacy in the photograph.
Wilson's "delicate flower, dammit" line is adorable.
Oh, awesome, I'm glad that came through. Sometimes I wonder if I'm clear enough...
*grins* It's a family line, one of those private jokes that must be plumbed for fandom purposes. My aunt's, actually, she of the Amazon build and combat boots.
Thank you for the prompt, and for reading and commenting. It is appreciated!
One of the things I like best about House and Wilson's banter is how quickly they undermine each other's statements, constantly calling each other on their lies without even seeming to think about it. And you did it here, which makes me happy. World peace -- World domination -- You don't -- I am.
Then the end. I have a feeling I'm going to be using the word "sweet" a lot in reference to these ficlets, but it's appropriate -- it's so suddenly sweet (though sadly at the expense of Stacy), with House's vague question and Wilson's easygoing acceptance, followed up with your clever wordplay.
I like that about them, myself. They have surpassed friends, and are at the point of family, where they never have to put up with each other's bullshit. They can snipe at each other without ever worrying about giving offense...not that House does, mind you, but it's different with people that know you that well.
Oh, I don't know. It's not so much a reflection on Stacy (pun not intended), as it is on House and Wilson. House isn't comfortable with anyone, I don't think, besides Wilson.

Uh, House is distracted and doesn't notice him hang it up. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
And I changed the comment font, it's readable now.
