So, i'm watching "the 13th mission" with my mom and dad stoned. It was a TV-special about the war and the Avro Lancaser Bomber that ended the war a few days after D-Day. Well I found out from my mom, that thats my family's history. Get this,
During the war, it became increasingly harder for england to produce artillary etc, so they moved production to Yorkville (I belive, forget the name) Now, they took over a cotten factory which was owned by my great grandfather. This, was where the very first "Rolls-Royce" engine was invented and built. So, this "Rolls-Royce" engine (which was the key to winning the war) was built in my great grandfathers cotton factory.
Now, the engines were built in my great grandfathers facoty in england, but the outter shell was built in Ontario, Canada. Brampton, Onatrio to be precise. Now, it was my granmother who worked for AV Roe's at the factory in Malton, Ontario. This is where they built the very first outer shell for the Lancaster, done by women (which my grandmother helped built) Now, she got married to my grandpa (on my mothers side), son of great grandpa.
Now, my dad used to work at the same factory/company that my grandmother worked at during the early years of my life. which was building airplanes and engines for air canada I believe. My dad got this job through his father's connections to somebody who was high up in the company during the war (when it was building the shell for the lancaster)
Dad married my mom, so both have a very large connection to the war and the building of the lancaster bomber that ended the war. I have 2 sisters.
My one sister recently got married. She got married to Luke, he's from england. His mom and dad both worked for "Rolls Royce Engines" and some point in their lives. So, Luke's parents worked for "Rolls-Royce" years after the war, but still the same company that invented the engine that won the war. My sister and mine's great grandpa owned the factory they were built at. My dad worked at the factory that built the outer shell years afterwards (where again, grandma worked too)
So, how weird but extremely cool and amazing are they all married to somebody with such a huge eerie connection?
So I have decided, if I ever happen to meet a boy who's got somebody in his family who flew on a Lancaster during the war...then he's the one I should marry.
