And... I'm back!

I realize I may have been a bit (read: entirely) absent from LJ for the past, oh... 2 months? Well, I'm back, and will hopefully keep updating regularly, if only weekly.

This past week or two has included a number of firsts:

First visit from the parents: I met my parents in London last Friday and we visited John, Margeret, and Kathryn in Belgium for the weekend, followed by a few days back in Oxford. Considering it was out of term, we managed quite a few "inside-Oxford" experiences, including, but not limited to, winning (dare I say 'dominating'?) a pub quiz at The Turf (Urban Legend: The Turf is the pub at which President Clinton "did not inhale").

First game of Cricket: A few tennis balls, a few wickets, a few friends, and a glorious Sunday afternoon - what more can one ask for? It was incredibly good fun, and there's talk of setting up a GCR "non-player" team... apparently there's a league for MCR teams of people who can't play. Quite a fun game.

First ride to The Trout: Denis finished the bike he was making for me (many many thanks!) and it had it's first road test - a 5 mile ride to The Trout (and back, thankfully). My friend Ben and I rode out, had a pint, got lost on the way back, and generally had an excellent time. Between the aforementioned cricket and a hard bikeseat with little shock absorption, however, I'm hurting in all the wrong places.

First Report as Treasurer: That's right, I'm the Treasurer of the Christ Church Graduate Common Room! Plenty of fun attached to the position, including a £14,000 budget, weekly expense reports, and lots of liasing. Woohoo.

Well, that's enough for now... I need to save some of the excitement for future updates, after all!
