Apparently, now, over 15 years later, one in 5 relationships begins online. My sister actually married her husband about 3 years ago that she met online.

It was funny to me how quickly and easily people accepted her now husband. Back in 1996, all I ever heard was "how could you ever trust someone you met online?" and "how desperate can you be to marry someone from the internet?" and now the idea of meeting that way has gone mainstream.

I guess part of it is now the internet is more accepted and used by more people, it's not seen as strange. Also, I've read many times that statistics show that now 1 in 5 relationships begins online.

I don't believe Skype was around in 1996 (I'd never heard of it) and when we met on AOL, we were still using dial-up.

I'm really glad you found someone you are happy with. It's amazing how easy it is to bond with someone far away, isn't it?:)

"The funny thing is, you never know when just a few words will change the life of another or the life of yourself. Words are powerful, strong, and compelling, if you use the right ones at the right time."

I loved this line! The whole entry is really special in its own right as well. Loved the photos that went along with the story, they really brought your words to life.

I'm glad you liked the line. I debated about using it as it almost felt like I was saying: "The moral of this story is.." but I do feel strongly that words matter.

Thanks for verifying that I made a good choice including it.

Words are powerful. Sometimes just hearing certain words at a certain time has really guided or comforted me.

I like reading entries with photos so I thought it would be fun to put some in. I'm glad you liked them!:)

I'm glad to know someone who has good memories of AOL. Funny how computers can change one's life.

I've always meant to ask: is the kitten in your icon your own pet?:)

R. still says, "You're the best thing I ever downloaded from the internet."

What a great line! Nice entry, too.

I thought it was funny that he thought of it that way. I may write more than he does but he can come up with humorous lines now and then:)

I'm glad you enjoyed reading my entry.
