After being on the honor roll both semesters her freshman year, Aurora began to settle into college life. She took a chance and asked her love interest, Hun Seiff (which I've decided is short for "Hunter"), on a date. They went to Keys Piano Bar & Restaurant (actually
the Stoneyville Piano Bar & Restaurant by Wolfsims68), currently the only lot in Plum Grove's downtown, which I've named the Big City.
Given free reign to order whatever she could, Aurora chose macs and cheese, probably because that's almost the only thing she gets to eat in the dorm. Her date had more sophisticated taste but didn't seem to hold it against her, as they didn't talk at all about food. He also didn't mind that she carried on a conversation with the restaurant hostess all through dinner, apparently impressing her so much that the hostess called her to chat the next day.
She and Hunter hit it off, as well. This shot gives you a better idea of how cute Hunter is from the front. He smiled a shy grin when she reached out to caress his hand.
Turns out there's a very good reason the two hit it off so quickly: he's also a Fortune Sim!
After dinner, the two kissed for the first time, in the restaurant.
They canoodled for a while, but since she was low on the fun meter, they stepped outside to play a little catch. Turns out that Sports is her hobby of choice.
The date was successful, overall, although technically, it was two separate dates. One of the problems of dating a dormie is that they can be hard to find if they're not in the common areas, so I had Aurora check out the student union and use her cell phone to invite him on a date from there. However, it was such a large lot that by the time they sauntered to the cab in order to go to the restaurant, they were almost out of time. Those young adults and their sauntering. That's OK: She asked him on another date right outside the cab, and it was all good.
Afterward, they hung around the piano bar a little bit, because Aurora wanted to play. She even got a tip from a townie, even though she's just beginning to learn and has about three and a half Creativity points. She also tends to gravitate towards Country. Hunter thought her playing was just fab, although the barista at the coffee bar looked like she felt otherwise.
Looking at this screencap, along with the one of them playing catch, reminds me that, in addition to making sure the walls are up before taking a photo, I also need to make sure to click on the floor above them, so that it shows the ceiling and not just a vast blue sky.
Back at the dorm, Aurora did some studying while Hunter headed for bed: her bed! No doubt he really does like her, because Sims with strong connections tend to stick near each other. She was exhausted, so I had her walk into his room, with the idea of using his bed. (And yes, after all this time of playing the Sims 2, I finally figured out you can enter an NPC's dorm room just by clicking on the floor and selecting "go here" or "run here.") By then, however, he was standing there in his pajamas, acting all innocent. But I have photographic proof. Note the photo booth selfies on the wall, which Aurora took at the university shopping center her freshman year.
Spending time building her relationship with Hunter meant that Aurora finished the first semester of her sophomore year with a B+ instead of an A+. Naturally, being a Fortune Sim who wants to succeed, she started to roll wants about going to class, writing her term paper, and doing research. But first, she had to deal with some roaches that had infiltrated the patio after some bozo knocked over the trash.
Then she trekked to the campus library to finish her term paper (and so I could check out the lot, which is pretty nice but lacks a cafeteria and/or grill, a must for hungry students). Aurora must be sensitive to the cold, because now that it's winter, she often keeps her coat on after being outside.
Taking a breather, Aurora checked out Commencement Park, which has as its main feature a performance stage with musical instruments for students to jam out. She formed an impromptu trio with two other students and was the best player of all three, which isn't saying much. No one got any tips.
She asked some of her dormies on an outing, but the ponytailed guy, Roberto, was the only one who showed. Though he's begun to warm to Aurora, seeing hearts when he looks at her, that ship has sailed. Plus, he doesn't know how to have a good time, as demonstrated by him pulling out an assignment while Aurora was chatting with him over drinks at the on-campus
Laser Lounge (from the HiTech University set by Illiana). Really, dude? Don't be surprised that you're stuck in the friend zone.
By the way, I love this university lot, since Sims can have fun and also build skills. Aurora gained a point of Charisma by practicing a speech in the bathroom while Roberto played pool. (She really wanted to gain a skill point, and she needed one for her major.) Plus, there's a DJ booth and dance floor, making it the only lot aside from the special Hobbies lot for Music & Dance that allows a Sim to earn money and build Creativity at the same time.
Back at the dorm, before turning in, Aurora played kicky bag with the second of three Secret Society members who happen to live in her dorm, while another dormie jeered at their lack of skill. She'd already befriended the first over chess, which had been difficult because Aurora kept playing tricks on her and making the relationship score go down. Having one point of niceness and a relatively high playfulness level makes for some interesting actions. She also has a running feud with another dormie, where they keep stealing the lawn gnome from each other.
Now that I know about visiting other dormies' rooms, Aurora should be able to make friendships with this girl and the other Secret Society member, and I can find out if the
Domus Secretus lot is as much fun to play as it looks.
I should also add that, even though she was really tired and not in the mood, Aurora gave Hunter a romantic hug in the gender nonspecific bathroom, just before heading to bed, and they both instantly fell in love.
