What is your go to pose?

I've been doing a lot of staging recently and it's gotten me thinking about poses and animations and finding what works.  I find myself continually flipping back to the same animations.  Part of it is comfort zone, part of it is ease of use but a good part of it is that I know I can make them work because I've used them before ( Read more... )

I tend to use a lot of maxis poses/anims and facial expressions when I'm staging. Some non maxis poses are okay, but a lot of them I find suit more static posing, they don't convay movement. I tend to overuse decorgal's pose box for the facial expressions, and the OFB and Nightlife anim boxes by Jaydee, especialy for arguments.

Off the top of my head, I use the OFB "Wait" poses a lot. They convey so much attidude that's appropriate for my characters.

I'm pretty sure I use that pose at least once per update. >_>

There are a bunch that I use over and over again, but I don't know if I could pin it to just one.

I find the obstacle course animations fairly handy. I've used them for when Miranda was hanging off the side of a building, for when Ian jumped off the second floor, and when Star jumped over the stair railing.

I've used the bowling falls a few times. Some of the BV sand animations are handy when you want someone doing something on the ground.

I tend to spend a lot of time working with Decorgal's talk paintings. I'll queue up a variety of animations for the sims talking to each other and just let them go and capture what I get. Foot stomp is a great one for arguments. ;)

I also abuse beyond belief the facial overlays from the model poses box. They are soooo useful and can turn animations into something else completely.

My go to pose is probably the finger wiggle for crouching/kneeling, and Hula and More's still poses for hands on hips and crossed arms, which don't include the smile that comes in the BV ones. I probably overuse those last two quite a bit. I think part of the reason for my liking still poses is the fact that I don't have freezer clock, so getting animations to line up is easier if one sim isn't actually moving. Otherwise, though, I definitely like movements better than poses - looks more real.

Being a bit of a drama queen, one of my favourites for having a sim fall to their knees is "plead with grim reaper." :P I'm also a fan of using the Pets animation for scolding. The sims has such a wonderfully dramatic wide-eyed WTF look on their face ( ... )
