Hmmm. I did in fact finally finish my costume, although I had to finish the wings Saturday morning.
Saturday was wonderful. I found all my old faire friends with the exception of Sam and Teddi (Sam I didn't much expect, cuz I know he's been working weekends, and Teddi has a 7 month child.) It felt really, really good to have all these people come up to me and ask where I'd been and tell me they've missed me. And I got to hang out with Raven and Lauren for a while. Very cool.
And then, my favorite part of the day. You know the 20-30 minutes between when it gets dark and when the fireworks start. I absolutely adore it. I disengaged myself from the crowd I was with and wandered Sherwood and the area around the Magic Cauldron. It was amazing. I can't even describe it but I realized a few important things.
And then off to the campgrounds. By this point, I was seriously starting to ache. I got back to my tent and changed clothes. I started to feel a touch anemic so, having prepared for such an instance, I took an iron pill, a multi-vitamin and 2 tylenol, completely forgetting how long it had been since I ate. Then I went and started dancing at the drum circle. In the words of Kenny: It was the worst idea ever. EVER. I was puking like a common drunkard.
Raven, I am sooooo sorry that I didn't find you guys at the drum circle, but there was absolutely no way in hell.
Well, then I sat down for a while, got a backrub and some water and I felt a little better. So Scott and Ethos dragged me off and we sat and talked for a long while. Found out a few things that I'd been wondering about, and it was exactly what I wanted to hear. Makes me smile, but does me little to no good now.
Anyhow, then I found some camping virgins who were all drunk except the 'designated driver' (who was crazy ill from not eating or drinking all day long) who had lost their car somewhere in the parking lot. So I helped them get the passed out chick back to their tent, helped them find their car so the other chick could get her medication and then returned them to their tent and hung out for a while. Then the medication chick started freaking out because she just realized that she hadn't taken her pills in 24 hours and started to get the shakes and was freaking out. So we got the drunk girl eating a bit and drinking water, got the designated driver taken care of, and packed up the other guy and got them all in their car so they could take medication chick home. God am I glad my life isn't that complicated.
And then Sunday happened. First, it was hot as hell. Someone told the giant orb of fire in the sky that it could come out. I was displeased. Got into faire around noon. I wasn't able to be on my feet for more than 20 or 30 minutes at a time. By 2pm, I was ready to leave. I almost blacked out several times, I was getting blisters, my neck was covered in welts and bruises from my collar, I had a touch of a sunburn and I was dehydrated. Blegh. Got back to the campsite and packed my shit, and had to have Tom tear down my tent. I passed out in the shadow of the Naughtingham towers for a while.
So, I had a fever all of last night, so I missed work. And I'm still feeling generally icky. And now my neck is swollen and my mobility has been drastically lessened. And my right leg has been numb for... about 36 hours now.
Damn, I feel like such a lightweight.
