delicious hell

Please correct me if I'm wrong... but it looks to me like the new Delicious has simply erased the Subscriptions functionality and has replaced my Network with some "following" BS that has been reduced from my 100+ people to... a list of about 10 people? What the fucking FUCK ( Read more... )

ugh, it's a nightmare. i just backed up my stuff on diigo, but the transfer to the new del fucked up some of my tags, so i'll have to fix what i imported. i'm also on pinboard, which i love a million times more than diigo, but it doesn't have some of the same social features, i guess? not sure what i'll ultimately end up using. /o\

Half of what I liked about delicious was the Network and Subscriptions social features so I am TO CRY. :(

I've been trying to export my delicious bookmarks and it's just failing and failing -- probably because everyone is trying to do the exact same thing right now.

This is why I've been saying AO3 needs to make the revamp of their Bookmarks feature one of their next big projects. I'd really like to be able to import my fandom bookmarks over there and have most fandom people eventually utilize that site for fandom bookmarks as well as an fanfic archive, because that way outside parties (who don't care about how eliminating a functionality could affect a few thousand fanfiction addicts) can't fuck everything up like this. They currently support bookmarking "external" links to fanfic not on the archive, but it lacks import/export, a bookmarklet, subscription feed, etc.

pinboard has a network, but no tag subscriptions; i never used subscriptions too heavily, though, so i think i could do without. as long as enough people are in my network, that is, which requires the majority of us ending up in one place.

i can tell it's going to come down to what i want to use personally and look at most of the time vs. where am i finding new fic, and i hate that i'm going to have to make that decision. plus, pinboard was pulling bookmarks off my del account, so it's all up to date with correct tags...but i don't think i can sync pinboard with diigo, woe. an AO3 bookmarks feature would be perfect.

I eventually want to put my bookmarks with the AO3 too for the same reasons. I've heard them say they are working on better filtering options, but I haven't heard any timeframes. I still haven't moved my bookmarks yet. Don't you have to pay for Diigo?

And I totally feel your pain on the end of the Delicious era. It's a crappy thing to have happen.

omg nightmare!!

It also seems to be the case that I can't just export as-is because they ADDED tags to my posts! For example: "has:fandom" "has:theme" "has:other" for any post where I have specified "theme:____"; "fandom:____"; "other:____".

WTF. I can't deal with this...

Well, I will be joining you in diigoland.

Although diigo has my tags through December (the last time delicious lost its mind), I'm reuploading in a new account. They ADDED tags I never had before and I don't want to overwrite my good ones! WTF x1000.

Horror.

Yeah, I backed up as recent as 9/22 but unfortunately in the space of those few days I did a massive re-haul to my tagging so I really don't want to go back and use that one.

What I'm going to do is eventually get these motherfucking exported (right now delicious export is just timing out on me over and over again) and then I'm going to open the html file in Notepad and use 'search and replace' to clear out all of the stupid new added tags.

THIS IS SERIOUSLY THE WORST. Where are my tags? How can I organize my tags if I can only see twenty of them? I have to search using the specific tag to find something in there, augh. And the "following" thing is useless if you don't get to see all the links they all post in one list. AUGH.

yeah, without the following "feed" that feature is fucking pointless. idek. Doesn't ever site have a feed now? If they're trying to emulate tumblr, tumblr has a fucking feed...

I lived and breathed my network and subscriptions, it's the only way to find fic in small and obscure fandoms! I hate this new delicious. HATE IT HATE IT.

I KNOW. ME TOOOOOO. *weeps*

Over years I had painstakingly crafted a list of people of all different fandoms, who read primarily quality fic, on my Network. So I could click on a link and be reasonably sure it was quality. SO EFFICIENT. I almost never missed great fic! THAT IS ALL GONE NOW. *curls into a ball*
