I needed to practice on some new software (before working hardcore on my BB art next week) and this song has been haunting my dreams. The idea was to create a video that will introduce the characters, their dynamic, their general 'story arc' on the show, and why people want to slash them. ;) Obviously, it's chock full of spoilers. But that's the point!
Later this weekend I'll follow up with a pairing manifesto/picspam.

Much More Complicated by Gale (4,000 words) Post 1.17. In which Damon Salvatore pulls pigtails, Alaric is ten seconds away from yelling “I DON’T LIKE HIM! GOD!” at any given time, and Stefan is mostly bemused. Also, there are breakfast sandwiches. "Saturday, Alaric wakes up with a hangover, his mouth feeling furry, and the feeling that something very, very wrong has happened. This is not a new thing; since he moved to Mystic Falls, he has that feeling roughly four times a week."
We've Always Been Out of Our Minds by janie-tangerine (1,300 words) 2 PWPs, post 1x18. "As Alaric's left hand moves and his index slowly, slowly reaches the pool of dark blood on Damon's chest, he wonders for a second if he’s really doing this. If he’s right exactly where she was. (And he is. Oh, he is.)"
Synergy by scy (4,500 words) Set some time in a near-ish future post 1x20. Cooperation can come in unexpected forms. Or: the one where Damon & Alaric are totally boyfriends, but Alaric is trying *very hard* not to know it. "Don't be silly," Damon said when he wandered over. "I'd never leave mice on the doorstep." He leaned closer to Alaric. "A corpse is so much more meaningful."
"Restrain yourself if you can," Alaric said, and Damon grinned.
A No Good, Very Bad Idea by lacrimadraconis and gehirnstuerm (9,000 words) An engaging misadventure set between 1x17 and 1x18. Alaric must have lost his mind. Why else would he team up with Damon Salvatore--again? A fun Alaric pov and great UST.
The Quick Brown Fox by entangled_now (900 words) Spoilers for 1x12. I'd fit this some time after 1.17. PWP. "Alaric has a death wish. It's the only explanation that makes sense. Some sort of complicated 'my rage is my own self-destruction, blah blah blah,' that only a really expensive therapist could ever understand."
Find the Few Living Things by Gale (1,296 words) Set in the near future? The author summary says it all: "In which Damon Salvatore has a Really Good Idea. That shit should scare you like a bear with a cobra in its mouth."
Preliminaries by scy (4,800 words) Post 1.18. In which Alaric is kind of lost, and Damon tries to give him direction.
"You're tense."
"That comes from having a vampire hitting on me."
"You've been dealing with it well up until now," Damon said.
You Can't Always Get What You Want by kachera (4,500 words) Damon saves the day and has a crisis of conscious - which he takes care of with alcohol and Alaric. (yay! a cameo from my favorite female sheriff!)
"And you're choosing to butt into my evening now to what? Share the joy?"
Damon smiled. "Exactly. I'm all about sharing. Besides, you drinking all alone at the bar... not a great image for your students."
Alaric tilted his head. "Right, and protecting my image is your first concern."
