HP BK 7 Immediate Post Read Comments

I have been having such a damn boring life that there's been nothing to post about... But hello, like I could not comment. Here's my quick, knee-jerk reaction.

What to say, what to say... Fucking UPS didn't get my book to me until @ 11, so I just finished, I guess I'm still a bit overloaded in the brain.

As soon as the doe came up, I knew instantly it had to be Snape's, and Snape + Lily 4EVA. Clearly I read too much fanfic. (and YET!) Very bemused that the oft touted Snape's love for Lily has actually become canon.

Spent most of the book just waiting for everyone to finally realize that SNAPE IS GOOD OKAY. Because duh.

Thought the R/Hr stuff was done well - much better than Book 6. Didn't beat us over the head with it, but some nice moments. Always liked those two. It just fits.

Highly pleased with the sizable body count, because that's how I roll.

Ginny makes me yawn, but whatevers. I made my peace with Harry/Ginny years ago.

Very much liked the treatment of Dumbledore - glad to see JKR take him there.

In general, most of the emotional stuff felt right. LOVED the rehibilitation of Kretcher, and once again acknowledgement of the prior generation's faults (while still allowing them positive traits and caring for others).

The book wasn't perfect, but then none of the books have been. However, I feel that I've recieved sufficient closure, and many of the characters were allowed to become more three dimensional. (As they should, with Harry maturing enough for the persons around him to be seen as much more human - everyone with natural spots of blindness, selfishness, loyalty, and love).

And though, like Ginny, the epilogue was yawn... and will complicate fanfic, alas... I can't argue that it isn't the fitting happy ending for Harry. He's always been so desperate for a family. Just wanted that, and a quiet life.

So the unselfish part of me ought to be glad he finally got it.
