One loaf of really pretty bread, light and fluffy like a Chala. My personal invention.
Behold the awesomeness Milk layer:
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
3 tbsp milk powder
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 cube yeast
1 tbsp oil
1 cup milk
Chocolate layer:
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
3 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 cube yeast
1 tbsp oil
1 cup water
Other:
Some extra oil and flour for oiling or dusting various surfaces.
An English Cake (loaf) pan
Baking paper
Towel
Rolling pin
Some water
brush
Method:
Mix dry ingredients of the milk layer in a medium sized bowl. Add the yeast, oil and about 1/3 of the milk. Start kneading the dough and add as much milk as is needed to form a soft, elastic and only slightly sticky ball of dough. Knead the dough for about 7min. Oil the bowl and the ball of dough, cover with a towel and let rise in a warm place for about 30min, or until double in size.
Repeat with the chocolate layer ingredients.
Line the loaf pan with baking paper and lightly oil the paper.
After the dough has risen, punch it down and knead it for 1-2min. take a small amount of white dough (about the size of a golf ball) and flatten it on a lightly floured surface with a rolling pin. Put the thin sheet of dough aside.
Repeat with the chocolate dough. Brush some water over the white sheet of dough and place the chocolate dough over it. The water is needed to help the layers stick to each other.
Repeat again with another layer of white and another layer of chocolate dough, so that now you have four layer one on top of the other. Roll this composition with the rolling pin to flatten it. Brush some water on top and roll the composition on itself to form a rectangle. Anyway you choose to folds it is fine, just make sure the surfaces are wet so it would stick to itself. Flatten it again, so that it would fit nicely into the loaf pan and not look like a lump.
Repeat the rolling and folding actions with the remaining dough, and place each composition on top of the previous one in the pan. I had three of these rolling and folding cycles.
Cover and let the dough rise again in the pan until doubled in size.
Bake for about 30min. or until the bread sounds hollow when you tap it.
