“Cuddy’s going on a date.”
Wilson looked up from the file he was reading at the nurse’s station to see House standing opposite him, sucking on a lollipop with the expression of a kid on Christmas morning. Wilson shook himself slightly, and stood up.
“I hesitate to ask this, but, how do you know?” he said, looking both curious and apprehensive. House pulled the lolly out of his mouth with a loud ‘pop’.
“She’s wearing her extra push-up push-up bra,” he informed Wilson, with a slightly leering smile.
“I don’t think I have to tell you how creepy it is when you… stalk Cuddy like this,” replied Wilson, moving round out of the nurse’s station.
“Who said anything about stalking?” asked House in mock surprise, as the pair began to walk out of the clinic and across the bustling hospital lobby. “I’m merely saving some poor, unsuspecting man from Cuddy’s determined ovaries.”
“So, what, you’re doing to hack into her computer, check which restaurant they’re at and mysteriously bump into them there?”
Wilson was saved from more sarcasm by a familiar, demanding call of, “House!” from behind them. The elevator doors opened and House quickly limped inside, pressing the close button with his cane and giving an approaching Cuddy a friendly wave. She hurried forwards, jamming a file into the elevator doors so they juddered open again. House rolled his eyes, groaning, then attempted what he clearly thought was a cheerful smile.
“Why, Dr. Cuddy, you really are looking especially ravishing today,” he said in a falsely bright voice. Behind Cuddy’s dark head he glimpsed Wilson shaking his head in a mixture despair and amusement, smirking.
“Whatever crazy treatment you want now,” said Cuddy, “You’re not having it. “You’re three hours behind in your clinic duty.”
“I’ve got a case,” House told her.
“You have one patient a week, House,” Cuddy replied dryly. “Three hours by the end of the day, or I’ll double it.” And with that she turned on her heel, and marched back towards her office, her fuck-me heels echoing around the lobby.
“She’s nervous about her date tonight,” House said after she’d gone, sucking on his lollipop again.
“Or she just wants you to do your job,” suggested Wilson as he followed House into the elevator.
“What does that mean?” House asked, frowning slightly, as the doors closed.
“That she wants you to do your job?” questioned Wilson.
“That she’s nervous.”
Wilson didn’t reply, but merely rolled his eyes again and stepped out of the elevator. “She wants to impress someone, so she can’t have met them before,” House frowned, walking alongside Wilson. “But she likes them a lot so she must know something about them.”
“Who likes who?” piped up a curious voice to the side of them. The pair stopped to see Cameron now standing in front of them, looking up at House slightly wide-eyed in curiosity.
“How’s the patient?” House asked, walking round her to their diagnostics room.
“Erm, stable,” she said after a pause, following him in.

Wilson wandered into Cuddy’s office, still reading something on a file he was holding. He looked up, and stopped as he noticed House standing in front of her desk, rummaging through something on it.
“What…” began Wilson, slightly incredulously (although he really shouldn’t have been surprised). He moved forward into the room, and saw House was going through Cuddy’s trash. “Why…?”
“Checking for fertility boosters,” House said. He looked up at Wilson, and added, “Guy needs to know what he’s getting into.”
“What are you two doing in my office?” came Cuddy’s voice from the doorway. The pair looked round to see her walking towards the, frowning in anger.
“I have a file I needed to give you,” said Wilson quickly, holding it up.
“House?” asked Cuddy, raising her eyebrows.
“I just… had to come and see you,” he explained in tones of mock-emotion. “It’s those super-perky breasts.” Cuddy glared, and walked round to behind her desk.
“Get out of my office,” she told him, sitting down. He gave a mock salute, and hobbled out.
“Is he up to something I should know about?” Cuddy asked Wilson, in a tired voice.
“Erm,” hesitated Wilson. “It’s hard to say…”

House stood on the sidewalk round the corner from the Café de la Tour, one hand on his cane, frowning across the street. He had only just escaped in time; Nurse Brenda didn’t miss a single minute of his clinic duty. He glanced at his watch; 7.30pm. Unless she’d cancelled…
No, there she was. House smiled to himself. Cuddy was making her way quickly along the sidewalk on the other side of the road, a navy blue dress just visible under her black coat. She crossed the road, and House ducked back into the shadows. Waiting for a few minutes for her to greet whoever it was she was meeting and begin to get comfortable, he then set off round the corner, and along the road to the café.
Pushing open the door he found himself in a bustling café, chandeliers dangling from the ceiling illuminating the chattering guests. He searched around the room amongst many tables crammed in, until he saw her, there, sitting in a slightly darker corner of the room with her back to him. He moved forward, smiling again to himself, but then stopped as her caught sight of her date; it was a woman.
His heart sank in disappointment. She was not on a date, trying to impress a would-be suitor whom House could successfully embarrass her in front of; she was having a catch up with a friend, and there was little point of embarrassing in front of them.
House groaned to himself, watching as Cuddy leaned forward slightly, and the woman opposite her smiled. She was gorgeous, House noted; Spanish-looking with her long, curly black hair and olive skin, large brown eyes with a flirtatious glint.
Hang on, flirtatious?
House frowned some more; it couldn’t be. Uptight Lisa Cuddy? No… He moved forward slightly, straining his ears to try and hear what they were saying. A slow smile appeared on his face as Cuddy slid her hand across the table onto the woman’s who smiled slightly mischievously at her. House limped forward faster; oh, if he was right…
“Evening ladies,” he said loudly as he reached the table. The disappointment had entirely been worth it for the expression of shock and horror on Cuddy’s face when she looked up to see House, House, looming over her whilst she sat opposite another woman, her pale hand entwined with hers. A deep flush spread up her neck and across her cheeks, and she gaped slightly. House grinned, pulling a chair from a nearby table and seating himself in between the pair. The woman was looking from House to Cuddy in surprise and confusion, although her large mouth was curved in mild amusement.
“Do you know him?” she asked Cuddy, who merely groaned in reply, quickly pulling her hand away.
“Oho,” chuckled House. “It’s like Christmas!”
“House…“ began Cuddy, but trailed off, covering her face with her hand in despair. House smiled at her embarrassment; his suspicion was confirmed. “Meet my girlfriend Sophia.”
