When people don't like your stuff, you feel unappreciated and feel there is no point to what you do.
And when tons of people do like your stuff, and an internet fluke gives you new watches by the score, sociophobic paranoia kicks in, you go "I can never meet all these expectations!!!" and the mandatory art block slams down hard enough to knock the air out of you.
