Oy, it's been a busy month.

What with friends and family visiting, Medieval Week swooshing past, exam assignments of my Life Drawing summer class being struggled with, I feel all drained. In a good way, it's been absolutely great, but still a bit drained.

Last weekend me and Chi tagged along with my mother when she was driving back south to borrow my grandfather's cottage in the woods over the weekend for a much needed mini-vacation.
It rained almost the entire time, but we curled up in our respective couches by the fire, wrapped in blankets, reading good books and having lots of tea, and it was quite wonderful.

I brought my new camera, which is incidentally quite dreamy, but the memory card I'd gotten cheap off of eBay started acting up and I lost a whole bunch of really pretty photos. This makes me sad.
I still got some really nice shots, though - now uploaded to my new ScrapBook photo gallery; here.

Also uploaded a bunch of photos from beautiful Gotland where I live, my cats, and of course a few shots from this year's Medieval Week.

Some personal favorites:

I cannot enough express how much I love the macro setting and resolution on this camera. This is a very downscaled version of the original, but even here you can clearly see the butterfly's actual face and fuzzy little body. ♥

Another macro shot. I could take a thousand of these, I never tire of trying to capture the beauty of flowers from different angles and perspectives. These pictures are just so pretty and soothing.

Nemo, Misty and Furiel. My kids. ^____^

A scene from Medieval Week - I just thought it was such a perfect moment, neatly devoid of any modern distractions to ruin the mood.

This winsome young knight is my younger brother, Tim. Being silly for the camera. Because he's like that. ;)

The line to the ATM-machine at Stora Torget (big square) in old Visby. At least half the people are dressed in medieval clothing. XD
Actually entering the small store around the corner was equally amusing - the vast majority of the people shopping wore medieval-style clothes.

Visby, having so many buildings and ruins preserved from the 13th-14th century makes for a perfect backdrop to all these people. It's just a little touch of magic.

A moment of self-gratification. >.>
That's Ella, the archaeology-mascot I drew for the museum while I was working there this spring - and she's on every monitor on the whole ferry to the mainland. XD
I shall admit I did feel a bit accomplished seeing it.

On a final note, the Edelweiss me and Chi bought for the balcony some two months ago just because, has miraculously endured droughts and downpours and is now finally blooming! Yay, edelweiss!
