Argh, I get so out of touch with everything now that I'm staying with my family for the holidays. And of course my mother's computer, which I usually use, just got fried in a power outage, so I can't draw the evil pictures and animations I had intended for therapy. Well, durn.
Yesterday was, technically, not a good day. I started my morning by watching Vexen's death scene, and got Marluxia's death as a night cap jut before going to bed. Wow. Harsh. My two lovelies both slaughtered one after the other on the same day. o.o
Spoilers ahead, so if you don't want to know, don't read.

So.
While there are still a bunch of cutscenes from Reverse/Rebirth left (thank gods), by now I've seen enough of Re:CoM to be able to assess what I think of it. (my poor nerves are very grateful for this, as I was heading for a minor breakdown for a while there. >.> )
Vexen. Was... really nice, after all. There were scenes when his voice had me wincing, and I loathe his old-man's-cackle in the battles, but on the whole, the voice was nowhere near as bad as I'd feared (especially when he's pissed and/or talking to Marluxia XD). Not too fond of his twitchy, over-animated face either, but eh, I can deal. (Squinty looks better, but he's cute when he looks demented. XD)
He's still incredibly gorgeous - they enhanced rather than played down his bony beauty, which is nice.
And damn, some of his new attacks - the snowflake-chakram and the ice-blade, hot damn, that sword was pure wow. Vex, love, you just need a bit more practice, and you can kick ass with the best of them. ♥
I am very grateful I was forewarned when it came to his rewritten death-scene, though - OW. Doesn't help I'm a bit of a pyrophobe myself to start with. ^^;
Luckily I'm something of an expert at coping with such crises, and so by the time I actually got to see the scene, I'd already mentally incorporated quite a bit more fire in post-CoM storylines for extra torment. I do think the dear scientist will have all new phobias to be exploited and toyed with now. u.u
Marluxia was pure gorgeous. I may have liked his hair a bit less... bubblegum, but I can definitely live with it. His face, hair, eyes, voice... The way he moved... pure sex. Really, really happy with it all, no complaints at all there (and what a lovely death-scene, mmmm... )
What I didn't like was how the script changed his entire character. Small subtle changes to dialog throughout, but it made him come off as much, much more passive as a character than in the original game. No threatening to report Vexen to Xemnas, the way he's utterly passive in the following scenes - he's quiet and keeping in the background, not at all giving the same snide, power-greedy, sadistic impression as in the original game. The way he is here, he seems brooding and sad more than anything. Hm. I like bastard!Marluxia better. u.u
( I am, however, incredibly amused by the fact it's Xigbar of all people who finds and brings Marluxia into the Organization. Heh heh. Well, at least it neatly supports my Amaru-theory, so I'm all happy. XD)
The 411 potential... It's hard to complain about changes to the plot, when such changes makes your OTP all but blatant. The way dialog was changed, you could very, very easily read a lot of 411 in there, and not even the very bitter powerstruggly kind, but rather fluffy and sad. Marluxia did not at all seem happy about having to order Vexen's death, and he certainly was very quiet and subdued when Axel returned with the news. Heh.
Still, the dynamics suffered from it - the whole game seemed a lot more flat, and made a lot less sense with the rewritten plot.
I think I'll blatantly pick and choose from the three different takes on story we now have (original game, manga and Re:CoM) when considering future plotbunnies and art, but on the whole, I still like the original game much better story-wise, while this one served more eye-candy.
Also, since it needs to be said, Larxene rules, yes she does. Even despite comments like "it feels a lot less dirty here now" (Biatch. -_-)
And since it also needs to be said, what little I've seen of Zexion is... *reluctant sigh* good. I'm not too fond of Zexion, and the fanbrats have very efficiently destroyed whatever of him I might have liked - the same way AkuRoku triggers my gag-reflex these days after sheer over-exposure - but... Well, it's not the characters' fault the fanbrats abuse them beyond all reason. I may grow to like Zexion yet.
Axel is a bastard of a bastard, which I hope said fanbrats will have come to realize painfully after Re:CoM - so much for the Mr Fluffybunny we see in KHII - HAH. Backstabbing bastard of a traitor is what he is, and if one can't accept that side to him, don't pretend to like him at all.
Lex I still haven't seen in action, but have very good hopes for.
I can't wait to play both Re:CoM and KHIIFM - the game should lie waiting for me when I come back to home to my island. ♥
Now if I could just get my mom's computer back up and running so I can use Photoshop again - else my 4/11 tribute may not be finished on time, which would suck bad. ;_;
