It's a funny feeling, when you're really, really looking forward to something, that mixed emotion of hopeful anticipation and vague dread that it won't turn out as good as you've hoped.
Last fall, life was kind of rotten, hovering somewhere between bleakly pointless and a real and utter drag. Then along came fangirl obsession, and suddenly the world was a much, much better place. Endorphins, can't beat them. Same lovely little chemicals as you get from falling in love, exercising (and chocolate?).
Vexen is better than sex. ... Heck, Vexen is sex. u.u
Hardly a surprise for anyone watching my journal, that obsession has given me an incredible creativity-boost all through the dark months of winter, making me more creative than I've been in a long, long time.
During the most part of this obsession, I've been looking forward to the remake of Chain of Memories, to finally be able to see my darling pixel-kins in full-blown 3D. That's where said anticipation and dread came in.
Especially after having seen the trailer a while back, being vastly disappointed with how Vexen was portrayed. Ah, the angst.
So today, after half a year of daily, hardcore fangirling, I finally, finally got to see the thing I've been waiting for.
Castle Oblivion - Floor Seven So, damage assessment. It was... interesting.
Much, much better than I had feared in my darkest hours of disappointment. I still resent those bulgy twitchy eyes - I liked them squinty, thank you. But the intense green shade... Yes, I can definitely live with that.
The voice... Ah, sorry to say, it's really very, very close to what I resignedly anticipated when I first heard they were making the remake. Very, very cliché Japanese-take-on-mad-scientist, a contrived whiny yet aloof drawl. I did like the fact he obviously can speak normally when annoyed enough, though - " Hmph. I can see I'm wasting my time." X3
Still, I'm very very happy with what we've seen so far. His face is gorgeous (when he stops making those extreme expressions, at least) his hair is wonderful and the way he moves... Mmmmm, yes. And those long, long robes and ridiculously long and wide sleeves... ♥
I just hope the rest will be this good or better - after all, my two favorite scenes from the game are up ahead, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed they will be done well. ^^;
Finally - while those exaggerated expressions are a bit annoying, they do have their advantages - clicking the video frame by frame, you can get the most... interesting faces... X3
"Oh, gods yes... Marluxia..." <-- case in point. XD
