Kouyou sat in the chair, tired eyes watching Yuu in the hospital bed. He looked almost peaceful in his sleep, but only almost.  There was a slight frown on his face, a hint of pain in that near-peaceful expression.

Kouyou's heart ached. He wished he had never failed Yuu or betrayed his trust. He wished he had changed enough, such that his relationship with Yuu was not the mess it was now. Guilt hung from his heart like a dead weight - Yuu had cut because of him. And almost died.

He was grateful, he supposed, that Takanori and Akira had found Yuu just in time and sent him to the hospital. Akira had been the one to notify him. He remember Akira's horror and his own, the near-paralysing fear that gripped him the moment he heard Akira's words: "Yuu cut himself severely, come with us now!"

Kouyou had prayed fervently to every god he knew of for Yuu not to die. He would do anything, so long as Yuu was okay. And he had sobbed in relief when the doctor came out and told them that Yuu would be fine. He would have to stay at the hospital for a few days, due to the blood loss, and would likely wake up the next day. But at least he would be alive, and it was all that mattered to Kouyou.

But even now, watching Yuu, he wished that he would awaken and tell him that everything was going to be all right. He wanted desperately for Yuu to forgive him, but more than that, he wanted Yuu to be happy. Seeing him so miserable broke his heart - seeing him miserable because of him made his heart shatter just about completely.

Yuu. When would he wake up?

"Kouyou," Takanori's voice said gently, and Kouyou looked up, biting his lip.

"H-hey," he mumbled, feeling guilt build up in him further.

"Kouyou... I'm sorry for blaming you for everything. I shouldn't have. None of us - especially you - wanted this to happen," Takanori said soothingly, walking closer to him.

Kouyou shook his head. "No. I did cause this... or at least most of it. Yuu wouldn't have cut if... If I hadn't disappointed so badly. He was getting better... and then I just had to fucking hurt him again where it hurts the most. I love him, Takanori. I love him so much."

"We know, Kouyou. We know you've changed. Yuu... well, he's the one who can't seem to see it. It's understandable for me, though... why he doesn't trust you anymore. Or just about anyone," Takanori said softly.

Kouyou had the urge to ask Takanori more about Yuu's past, but Yuu had yet to say anything to him - and from the looks of it, probably never would. But it was Yuu's to tell, and asking Takanori would only break Yuu's trust further. So instead he asked, "Where is Yutaka, anyway? He said he's coming soon, isn't he? And Akira? Didn't he go with you to buy drinks?"

"He told me to come back first. We needed to talk, you and me. And... Yutaka's in a traffic jam. There was a car accident on the road he was on, so he got delayed. He's trying to arrive as fast as he can, though. By the way, Akira's getting drinks for you, too."

"I said I wasn't thirsty."

"Kouyou, we know how miserable you are right now and none of us really feel like eating or drinking anything. But if you're going to take care of Yuu, at least keep your strength up. I don't want you to fall sick. None of us do. It's not nice to see everyone falling apart, and I'm sure Yuu would agree with me."

"No. He wouldn't," Kouyou responded softly, giving Takanori a small smile. "Thanks."

He looked back at Yuu then, and remembered the many scars on Yuu's thighs. They were old and silvered, and barely noticeable unless you looked closely, but they were there, and would always be. He knew that there were wounds that Yuu carried in his heart as well. So he might have known nothing of Yuu's past, but he could see what a horrible one it had been. He knew what it meant to have been in a bad relationship, a truly bad one.

He wondered if he was any different from Yuu's previous lovers. All those who had hurt him and left even more wounds upon an already bruised heart and soul. Sometimes, he thought not - after all, tonight's incident was caused by him hurting Yuu - but other times... He hoped that he was.

"Taka..." Kouyou said softly, and the shorter blond looked up at him. "How bad was Yuu's past?"

Takanori was not looking at him now, but instead at the space above Yuu's head. His expression darkened, obviously recalling unhappy memories of Yuu's past. There was silence for a few seconds, and Kouyou waited.

"They were worse than your old boyfriend. It wasn't just one person. It was... several. Not many, but enough to affect Yuu beyond your imagination. It was the most frightening thing I've ever had to see him undergo. It hurt all of us," Takanori said. "I was young then, much younger... but I could see how much it was hurting him. And he couldn't."

"Were they... liars? Like Takumi was?" Kouyou asked, feeling old hatred flare in him.

"That, and worse. Yuu's soul was battered in those days, and I don't think he has ever fully recovered, or ever will," Takanori said with bitter anger in his voice. "Yuu is too good a person to hurt like that. They abused that goodness."

"He is," Kouyou murmured in agreement. "And... and I have hurt him as well. I... I want to make things better though. I want to help him. I don't want to see him like this."

Takanori looked back at him, dark eyes fixed on his own. "You're different from them. From all the rest. I think... you can help him. It's impossible to completely heal him, but you will, to some extent, I think. It's really only a matter of whether Yuu will let you... and he should. I'll persuade him to. We both know you're different - he just can't see it now."

At this moment, there was a knock on the door, and Akira and Yutaka stepped in. Both of them carried cups of coffee and tea. Yutaka looked guilty, and his usual smile was completely nonexistent. In fact, he was biting his lip so hard Kouyou worried he might bleed. Akira was looking somewhat worried, passing a cup of tea to his lover and keeping the coffee for himself.

"Is Yuu... is he going to be okay?" Yutaka said, voice low and quivering noticeably.

"Yeah, he will be, Yukkun," Takanori said, and handing his cup to Akira, went over to Yutaka and hugged him tightly.

Yutaka seemed stunned, mouth agape. When Takanori pulled away, going over to Akira's side, he asked, voice full of surprise, "Why? I hurt all of you...  why?"

"Yukkun, we've known each other for decades. Ever since we were children - do you really think I'll forget that? I can't hate you and I never will, no matter what. So maybe you might have helped to indirectly cause this, but we all make mistakes. You can make up for them as long as you want to. We called you, Yutaka, because we know that you still care about Yuu. We'll always be your best friends, no matter what. I promise. Believe me, Yukkun," Takanori said, smiling gently at him.

"Thank you," Yutaka whispered, and then turned to Kouyou. "Kouyou... I'm really sorry for everything I did."

Kouyou smiled bravely at him. His heart lifted at how things were slowly starting to look up, and said, "It's fine. I think... I think Yuu's going to be okay. We'll find a way out of this mess, won't we?"

He believed in his words even more as they exchanged glances and smiled back at him. Perhaps, after all, everything would finally be alright.

Short chapter, I know... but trust me - long chapter later. Yep. I think it's really going to be long~ And we'll finally find out more about Yuu~ :O I'll update tomorrow if possible~ :D Thanks for the support thus far~!
