Well...I'm back.
And I need a vacation from my vacation.
On all of my four days off, I was out of the house by 9am and didn't get home until at least 8pm (usually after 9:30). Oy. And you know me, I have to have my no-people-but-me time, or I get all crazy and stuff.
Ah, crap. I just remembered that BossLady sent me emails about some work I should do. Blah. One is changing a line or two in a procedure. The other is...well, stupid. Our procedure for it is "We don't do these anymore. Transfer them to the dept that does." Do we really need an official document for that? I thought not.
Screw it. I'll do it all later. Gee, I've only got 6 hours remaining. Not sure if I can squeeze it in.
I did get my parents' computer functioning again, so I should get a gold star for that. And I got my taxes for 2007 finally filed. And I got the cat taken to the vet. And I got more quarters so I can do more laundry.
Grr. After sis' hooding ceremony, we went to lunch. Grandma paid for it, after arguing with Dad. The waitress was good, better than average. Well, Grandma left a lousy tip (fairly short of 15%). I got pissed, pulled out my quarters (which Dad made me "donate" in case we needed parking money. Grr.) and left most of them ($2) as an additional tip. I hate going out to eat with Dad or Grandma. They're both stingy bastards when it comes to tipping, and they can both be pretty obnoxious for waitstaff to deal with.
Anyway. In short, the hooding ceremony was fairly nice (much better than the giant stadium-based general graduation ceremony), the party was nice (except for the part where Mom's cousin (a RN) decided to lecture me about going to the doctor after Mom decided to share my personal medical information with her (not that I'm still pissed about it or anything), and in general, the other hang-around-downtown stuff was nice.
Though, ironically, I spent more time hanging around with Mom than I did with sis. :p We went out to lunch Monday while sis went to lunch with her former advisor dude. (The service there was so-so, so I didn't feel bad when the tip was just barely 15%, and that only because I was feeling nice because it was busy.)
I also managed to eat more meat in 4 days than I typically consume in a month. The joys of hanging around Mom and Dad. :p I'm back on a salad-heavy diet for the rest of the week. I feel supremely yucky from eating all that junk. I seriously don't see how they do it.
I also managed to buy 6 new (well, 5 used and one new) books yesterday. The new one was Rick Steve's Germany book. Why? Why not. Even if I don't get there anytime soon, it's still a nice bit of escapism. Sis tried to convince me to come visit her in France next summer. Uuuuhm.... We'll see. :p Other books were: Anna Karanina (Tolstoy), Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, The Name of the Rose (Eco), and that one by Homer that I can never spell (The second one).
And I bought Jaffa Cakes. Because you can never go wrong with tasty chocolate and orange desserts that share a name with a Stargate alien and were mentioned on Buffy. :p
I spent waaaaay too much time in the sun this weekend, so I'm vaguely purple from my biceps down to my wrists. That's annoying.
Oh look. More work I could potentially go do. I do believe I'll ignore it completely. Hey, everyone else gets to do it, so why not me? (BossLady took off early again. Must be nice to be a salaried employee. And besides, it's on a side project and the only person who knows what they're doing in that project is on lunch right now.)
This is annoying. There was something I thought of to go look at, and now I cannot remember what it was. Oh well, not important, obviously. Maybe it was something connected to cars... I can actually attempt to get started on that, now. Later, I'll go do the loan crap. For now...time to go poke around the two main websites. I'm really liking the Saturns they both have... God, that stupid car that Dad's been after me to look at for months? The one at the animal farm near Baldwin? Yeah. It's a gigantic Cadillac. Probably gets 10 miles per gallon, and has a turning radius of, say, Oklahoma. I don't even want to imagine what insurance on it would be. Ugh.
Yeah. Off to find something different to do for a while. Bored bored bored. *sigh*
