Had the day off yesterday and bought a beautiful clear glass plate. I thought it was beautiful and it'd be perfect for serving cookies with tea when friends come over or slices of fruit. Also, went to the hospital to visit a friend who had a baby. I didn't think babies had so much hair. But this one did and she is awfully cute. I got the baby a cute pink stuffed bunny and a pink sweater jacket. And for my friend, I got him a "Baby On Board" car sign since he couldn't find it in Hong Kong. Most likely because not a lot of people actually own cars. And even if they did, they don't always drive since public transportation is so great here and there is a lack of parking spaces. I ended up getting the sign in Canada.
My scrapped knees are starting to heal and peel. The bruises are starting to go away a bit. It looks kinda disgusting now.
Since I still had some fresh thyme and wanted to use it, I tried out a recipe by the ever exciting Gordon Ramsey. I just love watching his cooking shows. The F Word is one of the best shows ever. And I did eat at one of his restaurants while in London. It had to be done! This is a recipe I found on the Independent where he does a cooking column. You can also view him cooking the dish
here. This is sticky lemon and honey chicken drumsticks. Oh my god. Yum. I didn't make the potato mash thing he did on the video. One Gordon Ramsey cooking experiment at a time.
Sticky Lemon and Honey Chicken Drumsticks
Ingredients:
4 chicken drumsticks
salt and black pepper
3 tbsp olive oil
1 head of garlic cut in half horizontally
few sprigs of thyme
splash of rice vinegar
2 tbsp dark soy sauce
3 tbsp honey
1 lemon, thinly sliced
Directions:
1. Season chicken with salt and pepper
2. Heat olive oil in a pan and brown chicken with garlic and thyme until golden brown. About 2-3 minutes on each side
3. Add sherry vinegar and let it bubble until it is half reduced.
4. Drizzle soy sauce and honey.
5. Pour good splash of hot water and add the lemon slices.
6. Let it bubble and reduce until syrupy. About 10-15 minutes depending on how large the chicken is.
Yes. Definitely quick to do and definitely easy. Definitely a recipe I will try again.
