I actually had a moment of (supposed) clarity during Thanksgiving. I was using the bathroom and realized that people pretend to think of this as a religious holiday, but get so consumed by buying presents, even when they don't have the money to do so. you know, they go to church, get offended when they see "x-mas", but don't really get the meaning of the holiday...which, if you are Christian, is that Jesus was born. they tend to think more about presents.

I decided that I don't need a boatload of gifts on the holiday, especially since it's not really my holiday to celebrate, not being a Christian and all. so, starting next year (since it was a little late this year), if someone wants to get me something, they can. but I don't want them spending a lot of money on me. something thoughtful and something I'd remember will suffice, or something I really wanted...Becky, my wife, is getting me an iPod this year (even though I'm supposed to forget about it). that's something I'll remember...but it doesn't need to be expensive like that.

I'm rambling. I blame work.
