Ow. x_x

I was headed off to pre-orientation when disaster struck. I...uh... wrecked my bike. Shit. I've got some pretty nasty scabbing, my left arm's acting up, and my knees took a lot of shock damage, meaning that they *hurt*.

In retrospect, though, it may have been avoidable (though it did give me a good excuse as to why I was already running late - small favors). I was basically trying to get onto a curb, but a few things undid me - my road tires were put on in reverse (so the treads weren't doing their job at all), it was still a tad wet out, I was going too fast, and I went in at the wrong angle.

Now, unfortunately, my rear wheel seems to be out of true. It slammed pretty hard against the curb, so that doesn't surprise me, but it also means I can't just get another wheel, fit my tube and tire, and be done with the mess. No, I'm going to have to figure out how to get the geartrain off and then put another wheel on and hope I don't screw up the gears any more than I already have. This is what I get for riding a sweatshop special from Wal-Mart. I liked this bike, dammit, it had an aluminum frame, and most low-end bikes are steel, which means they're fucking bricks to push around or ride.

So I'm pretty much convinced that I'll just have to bite the bullet and buy myself a car. Easier said than done, of course - I'm very picky about what sort of car I'd want. It'll probably end up being some small 80s car with decent tuning options - I've narrowed it down to a ST165 All-Trac, Mk1 MR2, RA65/MA61 Celica, or an 80s Rabbit/Golf. I'm also toying with getting an AE86 or S12/S13 or even finding another 300ZX, though the problem with *that* is that I probably can't get decent mileage out of a 300ZX or 200/240SX.

Until then, I'll reverse the treads on my bike and hope it'll last a month or two of commuting. If I could figure out how to get a rear wheel for my current bike installed, I'd feel a *lot* safer about this.
