"Honestly I think it doesn't matter what faith you choose, as long you choose it to make yourself a true good person to yourself and to those around you." <-- I'll endorse that. Seems to be what most faiths are about anyway as far as how to handle yourself. Some of the specifics might be different, but tis still the general goal for the followers to lead good lives of virtue. Seems a higher power, no matter what ye call it, is inclined to love us and wants us to be happy.

What I've read about the Qu'ran is indeed vague (less than clearly condemnatory of male/male homosexual conduct), but Hadith and other oral traditions followed throughout the Islamic world -- not just in Persian and Arab cultures (e.g., including Indonesia, etc.) -- is absolutely clear in prescribing the death penalty for it.

Seems very one-sided to me. I'd be very, very careful.

This seems rather like a far-"left" Reform Jewish rabbi arguing that the Torah isn't really all that anti-gay, etc. Sure, a case can be made, but that case isn't actually persuading most people who claim to be "of that faith." The overwhelming majority of self-described Muslims *believe* their faith is anti-gay-sex, and like it as such. THey may be entirely wrong, but it's gonna be hard to find a mosque / community that takes this article's viewpoint to heart as its own.
