My suitcase is dusty. Not really surprising. For a short period of time I did a lot of travelling. I got a real taste for it. And then life got in the way. Sure there was the holiday to Barcelona a year or two back but that was a blip.

And now I find myself working and travelling again. They must go hand in hand which isn’t surprising as one gives you the money to do the other. Though this was always going to happen regardless of work.

When I was younger I would always leave the packing till the day of travel. Just grab a bag and throw some stuff into it and off I’d go on the yearly family holiday, safe in the knowledge that we’d get there in one piece. But now of course having to pack a suaitcase. Having to make sure all the travel documentation and not to mention passports our at hand, only the suicidally insane would leave it all to the last moment.

But I hate packing. It’s like gift wrapping. I’m no good at it. Everything comes out creased. So I put it off. I am a master of putting things off. Filling my day with other activities or non-activities. First on the list today was chatting on IM to anyone who was awake. This was good as the lovely Rachael gave me a GMAIL account. Of course then I had to spend 30 minutes or so finding a user name not in use. My name was long gone. For a period of time Elvisthebear was in the running. But instead I went for the tried and tested option.

Next was a trip to the bookshop for some holiday reading. Was only going to buy two but my second book was in a buy 2 get a 3rd free so of course had to find two others. For those of you interested:

Dude, Where’s My Country - Michael Moore (I sometimes think the only difference between him and Bush is that he is more articulate)

Rubicon - Tom Holland (Ancient Roman History. You know when it was good. When it was full of orgies, murder, incest, conquest and insane Emperors)

The Elegant Universe - Brian Green (Quantum Mechanics and String Theory)

Maul - Tricia Sullivan (Sci-Fi and gun loving)

I then came home. Watched Jackie Brown and decided that it was much better then I remembered. Probably at the time I was disappointed that it was unlike QT’s first two films. But once you realise that, it’s quite an enjoyable film.

Now I’m fiddling around on the computer. Typing this. Listening to Radiohead’s BBC sessions. Amending my online comic order.

But pack I must. I leave the house at 6:56am tomorrow. So there will be no time for last minute running around.
