Saturday
Went ito Sheffield to get the coach to Tideswell for the rehearsal and concert. I sat at the back with Pete (conductor of the main choir, my new singing teacher), his wife Cat, Rosie and Rob (who I know quite well from Small Groups), which was fun. It was kind of like being on a school trip, athough when I was at school I never sat on the back row (I wasn't in the "naughty" group).
Pretty soon I heard the bad news. Friday night, someone broke into Pete and Cat's house and stole stuff, including the car keys, then took the car too. Which is bad enough. But the worst bit is... the carol books that we borrowed from the Music department were in the back of the car. And they aren't covered by the house or car insurance, so now we owe the Music department almost £2000 - which is about 2 year's budget. Can anyone say, "Oh shit!"
Almost as bad is the fact that we need the books to perform our carol concert next Thursday.
So here I am, in begging mode. If you can spare anything, even a pound, or a dollar, or whatever, for our carol book fund, we'd be so grateful. I'll check with Kim tonight and find out what's the best way of getting donations to us, and let you know. And thank you in advance. And if you could let people on your flist know about this too, that would be fantastic.
Anywa, the concert went well, better than the one on Wednesday, except a sticky bit in Navidad where we all came in out of tune but rescued it at the end of the phrase, and the Tideswell Singers making a fair few mistakes on the stuff they did on their own. But overall it was good. And the Tideswell Singers provided us with tea and cake, which was rather nice of them. And there was mulled wine later. :)
My parents came to the concert, and gave me a lift back home, then me and Michael ordered pizza and drank beer. Fun.
Sunday
A fairly chilled out day. we did some food shopping (including buying 4 herrings for £1!) then I spent some time knitting (which I haven't done for ages) and we watched Waiting... on Sky Box Office, which was good, very funny.
Monday
I'm tired today, dragging a lot and can't motivate myself to do very much. All I've managed to do is eat and finish reading The DaVinci Code, which was worth the read I guess, fairly interesting and thought-provoking but takes itself altogether too seriously. Hmm. Religion, not my thing, but there were a few fun puzzles in the book which I enjoyed finding out the answers to. It's probably one of those books that everyone should read just so they know what all the fuss is about.
Small Groups rehearsal tonight.
I'm tired. Yawn.
