Emma-Rowling Interview is out!

I guess this is the whole thing. It looks kind of short for an interview, but that might be because it's on the internet and not magazine pages. :p

Favorite quotes from the interview:

It was a young relationship. I think the attraction itself is plausible but the combative side of it… I’m not sure you could have got over that in an adult relationship, there was too much fundamental incompatibility.

Well, this nailed R/Hr right on the head.

ll this says something very powerful about the character of Hermione as well. Hermione was the one that stuck with Harry all the way through that last installment, that very last part of the adventure[...]But Hermione’s always there for Harry. I remember you sent me a note after you read Hallows and before you starting shooting, and said something about that, because it was Hermione’s journey as much as Harry’s at the end.

Wow! And this nails H/Hr right on the head!! :)

It wasn’t Ron, which also says something very powerful about Ron. He was injured in a way, in his self-esteem, from the start of the series. He always knew he came second to fourth best, and then he had to make friends with the hero of it all and that’s a hell of a position to be in, eternally overshadowed. So Ron had to act out in that way at some point.

This is, of course, the middle of the above quote. I like it because I love Ron and this really is something that defines him. That feeling of always feeling inferior and I always found it disappointing because, while Ron found fame in his own way, I never felt like he grew beyond it, he never had to overcome it, develop his own self-esteem and gain self-confidence of his own.

Since I never read book 7, I don't know if he ever did, but it doesn't seem like it. And I think Rowling missed a powerful message in not having Ron doing that. I mean, from what I've heard Neville came into his own! Neville had the same problem as Ron! But she missed it with Ron, I feel.

So that's it. :)
