Oddly fitting, since the Yuuzhan Vong (how the hell do I still remember how to spell that?) were sort of an organic Borg, weren't they? God, they were like the most annoying "enemy race" I could think of. "Scars and body modifications show our superiority!" "Pain* is something divine!" "Machinery mimicking life is an abomination, but creating life for the sole purpose of serving our needs is a-okay!" Honestly, they woud have made a more realistic and compelling enemy if they had skipped that whole holy war on technology and just focused on the conquering for the sake of conquering.
*) Rather than just an alert system your body uses to keep you out of trouble. Wonder if Homer Simpson coud sell his "everything's okay"-alarm to them?
You're right, now that you mention it. The Vong (I just call them the Vong, easier to spell) did try to reform the galaxy to their way of life. Coruscant was completely changed to resemble the Vong's homeworld. I always wondered if there were some hard core SF fans within Del Rey, who tried to change SW into a hard core SF series rather than the Space Fantasy that it really is. Now I wonder if there are some Trek fans among the mix, too.
The NJO is mimicking their own creation and assimilating everything within the SW universe into its own image. Yuck!
